On the average, how much do you spend on food for you and DH, for a week?
I didn't have any brothers and for many years I was just shopping for myself or for my Mom and I. I'm shocked at how fast DH empties the refrigerator!

We spend about $200 a month.
Us too. Some months it's more, but for the most part it's $200.

Re: Grocery Bill
Probably about $100/week. Grocery shopping in Manhattan is expensive, and I like using freshdirect, which saves on time, but not money.

Re: Grocery Bill
We'll probably average around $85.00 a week. It might be higher if we buy meats and such.

Re: Grocery Bill
About $50-$75 a week, but I'm one of the 'stockers'-- if there's a really good sale on chicken breasts, I buy six packages and freeze them. So probably $50 if I buy NO meat, and up to $75 if I need meat, and maybe household or toiletry stuff.

Re: Grocery Bill
we budget $100 a week for food. we don't always spend it, because I am so lazy, I only go shopping about 1 time a month. So it is a very hefty bill! But this also includes cat food/litter and all of our toiletries. Sometimes when we have extra money, we will use it for ordering in, or going out.

Re: Grocery Bill
we are really bad and stock up like once a month (maybe a little less) and then get soda and other stuff and random points throughout. we spend approx $200-250 on that one random time and then other money when we buy lunch at work and get soda, eat out etc. our budget allows $400-500/month for that (including eating out)

Re: Grocery Bill
We probably spend about $100 a week. When we are out of the apartment I would like to join a warehouse club so we can stock up more. Right now we just don't have space.

Re: Grocery Bill
We just went last night and spent $200! I usually make small trips during the week and pick up some fresh things for dinners. I'll pick up fish or some veggies, so it's hard to track. We spend a lot of money on food.

Re: Grocery Bill
It depends on where we shop. If we go to trader joes we spend about $115 every 2 weeks and then about $30.00 a week on top of that at the veggie store.
If we go to the great rip-off called the A&P we spend more- like $150.00 every 2 weeks... they are SO MUCH MORE expensive.
This is just for the 2 of us.

Wow, we sepnd a lot more than most of you! I usually do major food shopping like evey other week and it's always like $200, maybe a littl less. But then I always need to stop at the supermarket to pick up things we either run out of or special things I want to make. I would say we spend about $500 a month on food.

Re: Grocery Bill
on average.. about $60.
We cook for our lunch.. Meaning what's for dinner may be for lunch the next day or so.
We normally only need to buy a few fresh veggies and meat. A few frozen items and maybe some milk.
Simple is easy.
ETA: HAHAHAHA I just realized our menu tonight is rosymary steamed chicken in a butter/lemon sauce with white rice. So much for simple. Serisouly though, it's what we buy not so much as HOW much we buy.

Re: Grocery Bill
I'm a stocker too, I buy whatever is on sale even if I don't need it. I would say when we lived in the States we spent about $500 - $600 a month on food, including trips to Costco. We love to eat and cook so we are always buying expensive things like Veal Chops/Lamb chops, seafood, etc.

Re: Grocery Bill
$80.00 per visit to the grocery store. We go grocery shopping on a bi-weekly basis and this figure is just the 2 of us, no children. Sadly, the value of the dollar doesn't buy much any more.
