Gross.

A bedbug was (allegedly) found over the weekend in my place of business.

I say 'allegedly' because the dead mofo is residing in a plastic ziplock baggie on my desk as I type this. I'm pretty sure that it's of the bloodsucking persuasion, but I have to wait for the official word from the exterminator. He/she is due to come by in a couple of hours.

On the bright side, it was found very far away from where my office is, in an open area with cubicles. I share my office with one other person, a neat freak germaphobe who at the moment is panicking over the whole situation.

Didn't someone on here deal with this recently in their office? Any tips?

I've been scratching myself ever since I heard the news. Blech.

Re: Gross.

That would be me!! Fortunately, as long as it's not an infestation it'll probably be hard to take them home with you. Bed bugs tend to be nocturnal so the chances of you finding one during the day (and it hitching a ride on your clothes/bag) are slim. Try not to leave your bag open on the floor, put it away in a desk drawer or hang it in a closet if you can. When you get home just try and shake your clothes off before getting into the house. For an extra precaution- wash anything you think might have bed bugs on it in very hot water and dry them on the hottest setting and vacuum your baseboards, your mattress/couches, and any unfinished wood. Good luck!!

Re: Gross.

what the pp ssaid

also its possible it just went along for the ride on someone's pant leg so its not an infestation. that happened to me once. Check around your desk, in little corners and crevices to make sure that you dont see any other of his buddies. GL

Re: Gross.

Thanks, guys.

My coworker is going straight-up nuts over it. I'm just like 'whatever, it's gross, no use flipping out until the exterminator makes a determination'.

I'll definitely take your advice re: not bringing the suckers home with me!
