I just found this article on yahoo. It's about China trying to curb the pollution before the Olympics by taking 1.3 million cars off the road. The pollution there is TERRIBLE. I have asthma and I literally have trouble breathing because the air quality is so poor.China

All other vehicles will be curbed, with cars carrying even-numbered license plates allowed on the roads every other day, and those with odd-numbered ones permitted to run on the remaining days,
that suucks!!

Re: Guess what time it is?! LATE NIGHT CREW CHATT!!
one of the funny things is that i've taught world history for the last few years and China was always my least favorite thing to teach about. And now I'm living there!
I really respect all of the achievements of their ancient civilization, but I think the culture there today is horrendous. Children and grown men drop their pants and go to the bathroom on the street. People spit EVERYWHERE- even in restaurants. Everyone smokes. And the pushing- don't get me started! The pollution is overwhelming. The sky is always grey. I cried when I saw my first sunset in NY because I realized I hadn't seen the sunset, or stars, or the moon in MONTHS.
The great thing about it is that it's given me a whole new appreciation for home. I'm so thankful for the life I've been given. And it's made my relationship with my husband even stronger. Even though it's been a difficult experience, I'm proud of us for doing this.

SOunds awful. But at least you can appreciate it for what it is. I dont think I could ever do it, I was in SC for 4 years and it was the worst thing for me. I can only imagine what it would be like to basically be on the other side of the world. You and DH are definitely stronger willed people then us

I did get to go on an excellent tour of China with my parents. Some of the ancient things we saw were just amazing. The only thing I've ever wanted to see in China is the Great Wall. It was really incredible. I was amazed by it. My husband wasn't able to come with us, so we'll go back in October with his parents. I can't wait to see it with the leaves changing- it will be gorgeous.
