I went to SS first to change my name there. Next, I went to the bank to change my name on my bank account. The last stop I made was to DMV. I did them all on different days but, I was in and out of there really quick.
You can find locations for DMV and SS online and they will also have the forms that you need to have filled out there to save some time.
Once you change your SS number, make sure to legally change your name at work too so there isn't an issue with payroll.
Then you can start changing everything else (credit cards, bills, etc). They need, at most, a copy of your marriage license faxed over.
