check out HIIT - high intensity interval training... alternating short periods of rest with intense cardio.try this:
warm up - 5 mins @ 4.0
alternate sprint & walk - 5 mins at a time (3.5 mins @ 7.0, 1.5 mins @ 4.0) for 35 mins
cool down - 5 mins @ 3.5

Re: GYM BUFFSSSS
I do alot of research on running to better my race performance, so I'm not sure if this will help you in weight loss but it may. A good running schedule includes both short, quick runs as well as long, slow runs. Both types of runs have their benefits. In addition, your body won't get 'used to' alwyas doing slow runs or alwyas doing sprints. Also, while sprints are a good idea- I would advise against running too much, too fast if your body isn't used to it. I've ended up injured more than once for doing too much too soon. Mixing slow and fast runs on alternating days allow your body to recover from the previous run.If I run 5 days/week I might do a speedwork out one day (sprints mixed with a light jog), a long run, a short fast run, and 2 average distance runs (5-6 miles) at half marathon pace.
I also mix in crosstraining and strength training as well.
Not sure if this helps at all but I figured I would offer my experience.

Re: GYM BUFFSSSS
Any interest in anything other than cardio/treadmill?Cross training with weights is really effective for slimming down because you build muscle which burns fat a lot faster!
Check out beachbody.com (makers of p90x)....they have a variety of 'at home' workout plans. I believe 'Intensity' is cardio heavy.
