Happy, but sad

Happy, but sad

Ladies,

This is my first post on the newlywed board and I just have to say I feel extremely sad that my wedding is over.. I am sure others felt the same way. Everything I hear a song that reminds me of my wedding I start crying.. LOL..

I had the best time of my life, more than I expected, and I love being married. My DH laughs at me and tells me to look forward to the future together, which is also what I do, but how do I stop feeling this way? Any thoughts.

Thank you ladies!

Plan a party like we're doing...lol

We're planning several atm...Halloween, Christmas, New Year's & Super Bowl - so the party planning is making me not think so much about the wedding being over but that now we have a lot of married couples parties to plan & throw...hehe

I think that happens to everyone. You have all this excitement of planning and looking forward to the big day and then its done. The day after our wedding I was so sad. Happy I was married but sad it was over. But your DH is right - you have a ton of other things to look forward to. Owning a home, having children, holidays...

Your not alone, its natural.

Definitely not alone, I felt/feel the same way. It is getting better, but at first I was extremely sad! We still have months before we get our video, I'm soooo excited to see how it turns out, so that is keeping me from going crazy!

Aww, it's completely natural!!! I felt that way for a couple of months and sometimes still do. Just enjoy being married for now! Sometimes it helps to ease out of the 'slump' by doing something like scrapbooking things from the wedding and honeymoon, or creating your own special album or shadowbox. Also, immerse yourself in things you couldn't do while you were busy planning. Maybe something you stopped doing or always wanted to do. Like, redecorating a room, cleaning out a closet, even knitting a sweater. Basically, move on to your next goal or goals, no matter how big or small. For me, I've thrown myself back into school as I work on switching careers and my goal for our place is re-organizing.

This may not work for everyone but 'compartmentalizing' things and making goals out of them has definitely helped me move past wedding planning and start focusing on our life now and in the future. Don't feel bad - I think a ton of us have had that feeling!!

Thank you. It really doesnt help that the day did go by in a blink of an eye and I dont remember everything.. I mean seriously, people do not lie when they tell you that.
