Has anyone been to Virginia Beach?

We are starting to talk about our 1st Anniversary vacation .... I'm leaving the planning to DH, and he mentioned maybe driving down to Virginia Beach for a long weekend or a few days.

Anyone ever been?

Any other similar suggestions to share?

I went to Myrtle Beach - unless you like Golf. Don't bother. Just FYI. Know nothing of VB though. sorry

VAB is nice.. 'Virginia is for Lovers'...

I went there a few years ago. It was nice. Theres the boardwalk area and then theres resorts..

really? I had a much diff experience. its great for golf if you like that but there are SO many other things to do down there! great restaurants, shops, board walks, beaches, etc.

NC. We usually stay around Corolla area. It's beautiful down there. Wish I could live there.

i hear ya. i went there years ago, and then like i said since then we've done VB and OBX so I'm not sure exactly what its like there now but I actually remember alot of nightlife and things to do.

i hear ya. i went there years ago, and then like i said since then we've done VB and OBX so I'm not sure exactly what its like there now but I actually remember alot of nightlife and things to do.

I also went years ago - the nightlife was soo bad that they stopped serving Alcohol by 1am and you had to be invited to these private owned clubs ih order to continue on with the night.

I guess I am spoiled b/c NY, and NYC are the best for eating out late , best food, best shopping and nightlife.
Only other comparision is Cali for me

i'd consider renting a beach house ... only thing is, we'd be going in november so i'm not sure if they'd do rentals in the off-season? or if the cottages would be heated?
