has anyone changed their middle name after they changed their last?

has anyone changed their middle name after they changed their last?

I am regretting the decision I made about my name...I don't mind so much that my last name is my husbands...but I just feel that there is no need for my middle name...and my maidan name would be more useful...

here is my example...filling out any kind of application...job or school...they ask me my middle name...but my degrees are in my maidan name...so does it make sense to the people I am sending them to?

while I like my middle name...I think my maidan name would be more practical as my middle name...

can anyone explain the process to me?

HI! I have changed my name to have my maiden name as my middle name and I took my DH's name as my last name. My maiden name was Kelly (hance my screen name- which I'll NEVER change) and fits well as a middle name. I still go by Kelly but am more and more accepting my new last name (not that I hate it, I'm just the last of the Kelly's in my family and love my maiden name). I have never had any problem with the change in regards to applications, certificates, credit cards etc. All I did was change it leagally on my SS card first then I changed my DL. Actually the district where I teach in told me right after I got married to keep my maiden name b/c I am known by administers as Lora Kelly and not Lora ~~~~~. I wasn't too excited about their responce to me getting married, but it made sense to me and I had decided to be leagally known as Lora Kelly ~~~~ at work too. They seem happy with that as well. They wouldn't have minded if I changed, but it makes things less confusing for them and me.

I am all for it and I'm sorry my reply is a bit long!

PS~ I forgot to mention that my DH teaches in the same building as me so to have a Mr. and Mrs. ~~~ is confusing even to me!

I technically kept them all

Veronica Middlename Maidenname Hisname

For my Drivers license I only have First Maiden Marriedname.

My insurance on my car however has it right.

Everywhere else shows my Maiden as my middle name.

I did what Xelindrya did. I had my maiden name added to my middle.... I did it at the SS Office when I was switching to my husbands last name.
So now my official middle name is Mary Dodd.

do you think I could just go back to SS with my marriage license and change it? (I have to take my MIL there in Feb to help her collect her retirement anyway)

I already changed my SS...thats where I think there will be an issue

I dropped my middle name and made my maiden name my new middle name. I was that name for a long time and didn't want to give it up

I actually dropped my maiden name, but now on my resume I have my maiden name as my middle name, so if they check references, prior jobs, there'll be no confusion.

I'm also using my maiden name as my middle name now. Though sometimes I still use it as my last name. I just can't get used to being called Mrs. HisLastName. Of course, what REALLY drives me batty is when I get something addressed to Mrs. HisFirstName HisLastName. When did I decide to change my first name??? Drives me nuts.

this makes sense...although my last job the secretary flipped when someone who was legally hyphenated only used her husbands name...but hse was a pretty uptight lady whom everyone feared...

This is a good topic..I legally dropped my maiden name and have my middle and my new name. (I would have kept my maiden as my middle but my middlename is my mom's maiden name so she would be really upset if I dropped it)
Now my issue is i am about to graduate in may with my masters and i want it to read laura maiden new on the diploma so it will make more sense with my other diploma and for work stuff. I am not sure if i can do that but i am going to try.
Geez, men have it so easy =)!!!!
