Have you ever NOT attended a wedding?

i usually go...

but 2 i recently did not attend were thus:

this girl i knew in college ( i graduated 8 YEARS ago) and i haven't seen since then invites me to her wedding... hadnt' seen her, talked ot her, e-mailed her, etc. in 8 years.... we bump into each other at a mutual friend's baby shower. she mentions her wedding.... a few weeks later an inviation is in the mail. I am not spending money on a gift, driving all the way down to Maryland and spending more money on a hotel and other expenses for your wedding frankly, i thought it was rude and was asking for a present. maybe i'm ghetto, but i didn't send her one either.

one was from another friend from college. cool guy, but we kinda of lost touch.. i didn't invite him to my wedding because of budget costs and our families were soooo big... he got married a month later and i felt bad going to his when i didnt' even invite him to mine. i also think i was 'B' list anyway as his now wife called and said why didnt' i send back the RSVP... did it get lost in the mail?' um... i didn't get one and i know you have my address!

I will miss one wedding. I am pregnant and high risk. The wedding is in Pennsylvania and I am afraid to be too far from my specialist. It is a 6-8 hour drive and I just don't feel comfortable traveling that far. I told dh I wouldn't mind if he went without me but he chose not to. The couple is having a wedding dinner for their NY family and friends and we will be there with bells on

I've missed two.

One was in Texas and I didn't know anyone else who was going. It was right after 9/11 as well and I wasn't ready to leave my family and fly. It wasn't someone I was super-close with either.

One was my cousin's in California. I had heard from her sister she was getting married but, I never was told a date or anything and got the invitation 4 weeks before the wedding. It was going to cost a lot of $$ that I didn't have and it was going to be hard to get off work. We had two other weddings that same month as well that we knew about far in advance (I was in one of them).

ETA: I forgot, there was a third. A girl who I went to high school with got married right after college. I didn't speak to her much, if at all, during college and I was moving the following weekend. I was only going to know one person in the bridal party and was invited without a guest so I passed.

I think we've missed three and I was really bummed about all of them!

One was in Aruba the week after I started my job and I couldn't take any days off to go, and we just couldn't justify spending $1500 btw flights and hotel to stay for 48 hrs.

Another destination wedding we also missed because I couldn't get off of work :(

Stupid work!
