No, but we're going on a cruise in June, so I'll probably take out one before we go just incase he falls overboard.

now its pre-meditated
to the op- we each have one at work but we are looking into one now since we own a coop together- the whole process is very confusing and it seems like there are hundreds of different companies and types of policies- i'm left like this about it

Re: have you or dh
right before we close on our house yes we are going to start one - just enough so that i will be able to pay off the house in the event that something happens to him and have a little left over to get me by and of course to help pay for funeral expenses - when we have a baby we'll have to increase the policy though and at that point i'll probably be insured as well - so that if something happens to me DH won't have to go back to work right away and can take care of the kids for a little bit....its scary to think about but once we got serious about a house it was something we had to think about - if something happened to him there is no way i could afford to keep the house whether we have kids or not....

there are so many types - we started researching and there is one that you can start now and pay off before you reach the age of retirement - at that point you are done paying and once you reach a certain age you can actually take the money out - so its kind of like a savings account and you have the option to use that money for retirement if you wanted - so you don't have to die to get the money - you can take out what you put in - im not good at explaining it but we will probably go with something like that....

Re: have you or dh
Dh has one and I need to get one because we both own homes. He did take it out in the amount of both mortgages. I really need to do the same.
If and when we have children we will increase it to include childcare costs incase anything happen to either one of us.

i meant like there are so many different types of life insurance policies - for example the one i was describing works differently than most regular/old school policies - i just cant remember all the facts about it....

Re: have you or dh
Its one of the first things we did as a married couple. A lot of people think its morbid to talk about but in the event that something were to happen to one another we wouldn't want the other one to be left with nothing. We took out enough for our burial, for bills and a little extra.
