I'm sitting here trying to do my thank you's and I'm totally at a loss for what to say in most other than 'Thank you for your generous gift and for sharing in our special day' - YUCK - gonna puke!!
Personalize it my mentioning the gift if it was an object, and how you'll use it, or if it was cash you can indicate how you plan to use it, ie: Thank you for sharing in our special day. DH and I are saving for our first home, and your generous gift will help make that possible. Or DH and I plan to use your generous gift to complete our china pattern. We hope you'll come and share a meal with us one day.

We really only got $$$ which was making personalizing it kinda difficult (and we already have a house so I don't know what we can say we are using the money for ... um, gambling on the HM ... )
But now I am almost done except for my immediate family & DH's immediate family & his friends.

Thanks for sharing that website! I feel like I'm being super-repetitive in my thank you notes, and I'm always looking for ways to vary my phrasing and whatnot.

i always started out by saying......'it was so great to have you there with us to celebrate our wonderful wedding day' or something like that...and then i added a sentence in about 'thank you for the generous gift - it is greatly appreciated' if it was someone we were close with, i added 'it wouldn't have been the same without you' or something in particular that they did that stands out in my memory. sometimes i would say 'we had such a great day, we hope you did as well' i tried to mix it up a little, but some of them were a little sickening-sweet
Great site!!! Our thank you's should be coming soon....I will have to use a couple of those!

I'm writing my TYs right now (at work ) and all of mine sound exactly the same too, except for people that didn't attend - I describe how the day went and how I wished they could have been there. I can't wait until I'm done!
