Hawaii Accomodations

Hawaii Accomodations

Although there have been multiple post about hawaii. I thought It would be nice to start a post where brides write reviews about where they have stayed to help future brides decide on their accomodations for their honeymoon. It sure would be helpful for brides like myself who are planning their own honeymoons.

Newlyweds Please Help us Brides to Be.

Thanks!!

PS, this is a copy of a recent post on BHB. I did not get any responses so I thought I'd try here.

Re: Hawaii Accomodations

We stayed at the Westin in Maui and the Sheraton in Kauaii. The Westin was beautiful, right on Kaanapali beach and the grounds were amazing! Beautiful room, and they have those 'heavenly beds' which was the most comfortable bed I have ever seen at a hotel (quite handy when on your HM ) The food & service were great, as was the location. I highly recommend the Westin.

Now, I must preface my thoughts on the Sheraton w. this- Maui and Kauaii are v. different islands. Kauaii is much more laid back, and none of the hotels there seemed as fancy as those on Maui. The Sheraton was nice, but not nearly as nice as the Westin. Since we went to the Westin first, I was not thrilled w. the Sheraton- it was OK, not amazing. For us, we used the $$ we saved on the hotel to put back into fun spending on things like food and activities, so it was worth it. Had I gone to the Sheraton first, I would have thoguht it was really nice, but being I was at the Westin, she Sheraton did not really compare.

That said, both were great hotels. When we were in Hawaii, I could have been in a shack and been OK, it is SOOO amazing there. I wish I could go back

Stef - not sure if you'd like Hyatt Maui. Are you looking for a quiet, laid-back atmosphere?

It's a high rise hotel, the rooms are great but the pool area was a bit packed each day. On Kauai we felt so secluded but that wasn't the case at Hyatt Maui.

Teri: Did you not like it?

I dont necessarily need perfect peace and quiet but its not cheap so I want it to be pretty nice.

We stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Maui and it was amazing, i would recommend it to anyone. The rooms are gordeous, the view is breathtaking, it's quiet, great service, and on and on.

We also stayed at the Sheraton in Kauai and i have to say it doesn't even come close. I was very very dissapointed, and I don't plan to go back.

If anyone is planning on doing the two islands, i would recommend going to Kauai first and then Maui, otherwise it's a let down.

Re: Hawaii Accomodations

Stef- The Hyatt was very nice but also very commercial. Which was fine for us- I don't know what you're looking for. We had a suite so I didn't see the regular rooms but I think they are nice, average rooms. My view of Maui is kinda scewed since when we were there, there were HUGE waves and it made the ocean unswimmable. It also brought up lots of ocean drudge so the water looked like NY ocean water! The island itself ws beautiful. There is alot to do- water sports, shopping, eating.... We went to a luau in Maui and it was alot of fun. We also did the crater Haleakala and the road to Hana (skippable). I would recommend the Hyatt. The pool was nice although there were alot of kids and families there (although we left right as Thanksgiving break was starting) and the beach was very nice too. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Re: Hawaii Accomodations

I did a search of some of my Hawaii posts...here they are......

Well, I'm finally posting the pictures from our honeymoon in the beg. of September. We stayed at the Hyatt in both Maui and Kuaui and they were both absolutely beautiful. The first pictures are from Maui and the latter bunch are from Kuaui.

We had the best time ever! Hawaii is sooooooo beautiful. We went on the Atlantis submarine, the luau at Old Lahanui (sp?) you'll see a picture of me and Ken with Hmchick (Adrienne) and Dave. We had a great time with them. We also went to Oahu on a day tour and toured the USS Arizona and USS Missouri. We did a lot of off road driving. We found so many beautiful things this way. The last bunch of pictures are from the helicopter ride (scary ) in Kuaui.

Enjoy

We stayed at the Hyatt on Maui and Kuaui. We loved both for different reasons. We went to the Princeville (we were going to stay there but then changed) It was beautiful and we saw the sunset over the ocean which was Perfect. As beautiful as the hotel was, we were glad we didn't stay there. It was about an hour (or a little more) away from the Hyatt, which is where the action, not that there was much (resturants and stuff) were. the breakfast included in the hyatt package makes it all worth while. We got free breakfast every day which would have been $40 a day

You won't be dissappointed in the hyatts IMO

Hi! Hawaii is BBEEEEUUUTIFUL!!!!! It really depends what you want to do. We went to Maui and Kuaui with a day trip to Ohau to see Pearl Harbor and the sights. We were happy with our itinerery.

Kuaui is very beautiful and quite.
Maui is a bit more lively.
Oahu is a city (much like NY)
and I hear the Big Island is the same (though I haven't been)

Betty, I will be staying at the Hyatt in Ohau (4 nights) Kauai (4 nights) and Maui (5 Nights).

Re: Hawaii Accomodations

Hmmm..not sure what to do. I booked for a very good rate (considering other resorts are booking at $400/night) at the Hyatt. But I can book using Priceline at a '5 star' resort in Maui for about the same price. Not sure if I should stick with the Hyatt which gets mixed reviews or take my chances with the unknown.

I dont have breakfast included in my package so I dont know if thats important or not.

Re: Hawaii Accomodations

Stef - I did enjoy the hotel but we were a bit disappointed after leaving paradise on Kauai.

Like someone else said, the hotel is more commerical, which we weren't too overly thrilled with, but it was still a very nice hotel. It's also in a park of many other hotels, so from our room we overlooked other buildings.

We had free breakfast everyday, but each AM we had to wait on a line to be seated. Not a huge deal but spending a lot of $$$ and being on your HM (as we were) I didn't want to be on line!

The cost of breakfast there really adds up - we saved a lot of money but having it included. It would have been $40 per day if we had paid

Have you researched the cost of Grand Wailea? I hear that one is really nice.
merf99 Posted:

Re: Hawaii Accomodations

If you got a good rate, then I personally would stay with the Hyatt but if you are looking for a place that completely pampers you and you don't have to lift a finger than I don't think this is the resort. Like Teri said, the Grand Wailea is supossed to be like that. It's in a completely different area than the Hyatt though - other side of the island. But from what I've heard, that hotel is beautiful and VERY luxurious (sp?).

But if you are looking for a nice hotel and got a good price, then I would say the Hyatt. We had breakfast included in our deal and if you can do that, I would. It really adds up and it was great knowing that was one less thing to pay for. We did see Tony and Tina's Wedding at the Hyatt (they are probably still running that show) and that was at the Italian restaurant there. I'm sure the food was different because it was that show but it was not that good.

But I hear the restaurant at the Swan Court in the Hyatt is GREAT.

Re: Hawaii Accomodations

Unfortunetly, we cant get breakfast included since we are paying about $150/night less than what they are charging via Expedia b/c of Lukes discount.

The Grand Wailea and Fairmont are charging $650/night!!!! holy smokes!

Re: Hawaii Accomodations

We really liked the Hyatt in Maui. It doesn't compare to the Hyatt in Kauai but they are two seperate islands. We went to maui first so we weren't disappointed. Breakfast was included for us and we never had to wait but it is not like you HAVE to spend $40 on breakfast- there are other plcaes you can eat. The Hyatt looked comprable to the other hotels on kanaapali beach.
