Pics from my 1st anniv. trip to Hawaii
What an absolutely incredible place... I've been to the Caribbean and this doesn't even come close in my opinion.
We had a bit of a crazy start. We left the Friday of the blackout. We were supposed to leave at 7am. WE went to the taxi place to reserve a cab and they promised us they'd be there at 4:30am to get us. Well, by 4:45am I said we'd better drive. We get to long term parking at JFK and there are no lights there (totally creepy), the bus runs out of gas getting us to the terminal, and then we get to the terminal at 6:30am and there is no power. No A/C, no food, no drinks, no water in the bathrooms, NOTHING!!!! except hundreds of people sleeping on the floor! We were very lucky and we were the second flight out at 1pm. We were spending the first night in San Fran anyway so it worked out that we didn't miss any connections. I love San Fran - such a cool city... too bad we were so tired.
Went to Maui the next day... and fell in love. We stayed at the Kaanapali Beach hotel. We were registered as honeymooners :) so we got a free bottle of champagne and every night cookies or candy on our pillows. We did all the sightseeing stuff, road to Hana (including the forbidden road back on a one lane dirt road, amazing scenerly though!), sunrise at the crater (cold, but beautiful), snorkeling,etc... 5 nights in Maui and then we flew to Kauai for 5 nights.
Stayed at the Kauai Marriott which was beautiful! We mostly went to the beaches etc. Jerry's moms friend lives there so we spent a day with her hanging out like the locals do. WE also did a helicopter tour there also.
If you've never been there I totally recommend it. It's far and its a bit expensive... but totally worth saving up to go! We trying to figure out when we will be able to go again, but we need to buy a place to live first, but we know we'll definitely be back there.
I'll try to post some pictures.
