Hawaii Honeymooners
I figured you girls would be the best to ask this question. Thanks for listening!
We are looking for some help. We are picking the excursions for our cruise to Hawaii. We are looking for some suggestions of some great places to visit and things to do on the following islands:
1. Big Island of Hawaii
2. Maui
3. Oahu
4. Kauai
We have some things written down that we are interested. If you have done any of these, please give your opinion.
Big Island: Kilauea Volcano tour
Glassbottom boat tour
Oahu: USS Arizona Memorial Tour
Hawaiian Luau and Polynesian Extravaganza
Maui: Royal Lahaina Luau at Ka'Anapali Resort.
Other questions we have:
1. What is the best Luau to attend?
2. Should we skip the excursions on Maui and Kauai and just get a taxi to the beach?
Thank you in advance for your help!!

Re: Hawaii Honeymooners
Hey there. You are very lucky to be going to Hawaii. I've travelled alot and nothing compares to Hawaii in my opinion. If you haven't picked hotels yet, I have recommendations also.
Big Island - Kona Village Resort - Hike the volcano - bring flashlights, it's amazing!
Maui - Hyatt Regency - Snorkel for free of mile marker (16) -- best snorkeling of my life ... I'll get back to you with the details if you're interested. DEFINITELY drive the Road to Hana but make sure you buy the tape before you drive it so you know where to stop and what you're looking at. 4WD is recommended (Wrangler is fun!)
Kauaii -- Hyatt -- Drive ALL over, stopping at all places (waterfalls, canyons, red sand)
Oahu -- Halekulani (STAY THERE!) -- USS Arizona, eat, shop, drive to northern part of the island
I'm not sure what you mean about skipping the excursions at taking a taxi to the beach. You'd be crazy to do that. Maui is ALL about the excursions. .. there is so much natural beauty there ... you're not going to want to sit on the beach EVERY day. (at least I didn't.
)Have fun!

Re: Hawaii Honeymooners
My first recommendation is that for Kauai and Maui, you get the Kauai Revealed and Maui Revealed guidebooks. They were like our bibles driving around the islands! We took their advice for excursions, restaurants and sightseeing, and found them to be an excellent source. I definitely recommend taking a helicopter ride on Kauai. We used Air Kauai. The views were incredibly beautiful! On Kauai, we didn't really do many excursions, but spent time driving around to different parts of the island, sightseeing and shopping. On Maui, we did more excursions, including a snorkel cruise, and taking a van to the top of Haleakala for sunrise. We did the luau at the Hyatt, where we were staying, and thought it was terrific! We LOVED the road to Hana. We didn't buy a tape, but we used our guidebook, which took us to a lot of places that people w/o the book wouldn't have known about.
