Help! Anyone who's been to Hawaii
My friends are getting married and going to Hawaii on their honeymoon. I'd like to make the bride a list of great things to do or if you found a travel book that was really good, which one was it?Any other advice or tips I can pass along would be great. Also, any ideas for a Hawaii-related gift I can get them?
THANKS!!
I dont know which islands they are going to so I'll take any advice on any islands.

I can help but I probably won't have time til tonight to write some good info.....! I had 2 books, and one was awesome - it was on Kauai. Is it possible for you to find where they're going? It would be very helpful with places to visit, restaurants, etc.

Re: Help! Anyone who's been to Hawaii
I spoke to the groom last night and he said Maui, Oahu and 'the big island'. LOL I guess those who know Hawaii know which island is the big island. Thanks!

Tell them to get the 'Maui Revealed' book. It has a lot of great info and the author is actually funny.http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?userid=2XDLKVYF4N&isbn=0971727902&itm=1

Re: Help! Anyone who's been to Hawaii
Yep, that's literally the biggest island, otherwise known just as 'hawaii'. We went to maui and kauai so I'll find what I have at home on maui and post tonight when I can

Re: Help! Anyone who's been to Hawaii
On Maui, I would take the helicopter tour of the island, take the sunrise/bicycle tour to the top of the volcano (here's the company we used Bike Tour . Also on Maui, the drive to Hana - long but I hear its totally worth it - if I go back, we're doing it. Eat at the Sushi/Japanese restaurant at the Grand Wailea (where we stayed) and the Italian restaurant (outside on the beach) at the Four Seasons. On the big island - Hawaii, I would spend a full day in the volcano park and watch the lava spilling out into the ocean. I would add a helicopter trip to the volcano park so you can get closer (wish we had done that). I also highly recommend the Four Seasons hotel.
If you are on Oahu, obviously Pearl Harbor and the U.S.S. Missouri. Depending on the time of year, you can head to the north side of the island and check out the famous Bonzai Pipeline -- those giant giant waves you see on TV! Also, I'm biased since I stayed there, but a stop by the Halekulani Hotel on Waikiki beach in the afternoon - they have a Hawaiian band and a hula lady and you can sip a drink and listen to the great island music...a nice break from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.
We used the Fodor's and the Frommer's guides combined - both were great.

Re: Help! Anyone who's been to Hawaii
We used 'Hawaii for Dummies' and it was our bible the whole 2 weeks. It has great info on activities, nightlife, shopping, hotels, restaurants, beaches, all the islands, etc..

Re: Help! Anyone who's been to Hawaii
Lee..I was just typing all the stuff you suggested. I then realized I had FM'd you when I was planning my honeymoon and took all your advice and did all the things you had suggested. I couldn't agree with Lee more. My honeymoon was wonderful.....If I had to change anything...I would have spent one more day in Oahu to see the North Shore because I heard it was beautiful ans spent one less day in Maui.
I would have driven the Road to Hana in Maui
I would have taken a helicopter tour of the volcano (we only did one on Kauai)
I would have done a snorkeling tour on Molikini.
Think that is about it!
