Me and DH signed up for Netflix, under the trial period right now, but we had full intention of keeping the subscription. So far we've watched 3 movies on it...we wanted to primarily use it for streaming, not DVD rentals, but it seems like a lot of new releases aren't available for streaming.
Can you recommend some movies for us to watch? Can be anything really...comedies, romantic comedies, dramas, actions, thrillers....just want to see if there's enough streaming to justify the subscription! TIA!

Re: Help me fill my queue!
We’ve watched a really bad string of movies lately! But some of the better ones were The Invention of Lying and Law Abiding Citizen (I know that one got horrible reviews but I liked it.)

Ugh, so many of these aren't available to stream! If the nearest Blockbuster to us didn't close we probably would have just stuck with them at this point.

I went down the list of movies I have rated to see what was streaming...
Some I loved are: Amadeus Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind It Happenned One Night Romancing the Stone Touch of Evil
To be honest I think the streaming on Netflix is the bonus, not a primary use. I don't think its Netflix either, I don't think the studios allow all movies to be streamed, especially with things like I-Tunes, Amazon Unbox and On Demand were people pay to stream each movies.
But Netflix has TONS of DVDS. They have titles on DVD you can't find anywhere else. Independent films, Sundance Films, Documentaries, Foreign Films, Old Films along with all the mainstream movies. Can I ask why you don't want to use the DVDs? Its so easy. They come to your house and when your done you stick them in the mailbox with the flag up and off they go.

Well, we wanted to use it for streaming primarily because we didn't like the idea of having to pre-plan our movies...like we'd go in to blockbuster, sometimes be there for an hour, pick a movie, go home, and watch it, end of story. We didn't really want to spend an hour picking something out online, having to wait 1-2 days (or more if a weekend) for it to arrive, THEN watch it when it comes. For a movie or something we really wanted to see we'd do it...like when I want my Twilight Fix, or when True Blood Season 2 is available (I don't have HBO)...but as the general rule we just wanted more of a quick fix.

Thats why I usually do three discs at a time. I try to always have a blockbuster, a romantic comedy and indie/more obscure film... this way whatever mood I am in I have a movie for it. When I was in film school I did 5 discs at a time.

We only signed up for the one DVD out at a time because we only have a PS3 in the living room, and the bedroom TV doesn't have a DVD player in it, so if I wanted to watch a movie and DH wanted to play video games or watch the game in HD at the same time, one of us will be SOL...so we just picked the level where one would be out at a time. I'll have to see how it goes....we might cancel in a few months if we really never use it.

We have Netflix too and they really have a smallll selection for streaming. If you haven't seen Pineapple Express, stream it now!!! I freaking love that movie!!!! They also have mad 80's and 90's televesion shows to stream! Hahaha it's funny if you go through the whole collection. Mike and I did and there's a lot of funny old stuff on it. We watched My Blue Heaven together, somehow he had never seen it!!!
Also for your queue, we have Inglorious Basterds coming in the mail today.
