HELP! Thank you to a deceased guest...

OK, so since our wedding, the president of my husband's company has passed away. He came to our wedding with his wife. It was a sudden death at the young age of 57. Since my photographer took 5 months to send me my thank you cards, I've now recently received them and sent them all out except this one. I have no idea what to write!!!! Any suggestions?

I would write the thank you to his wife since she attended. Simply thank her for sharing your day and for the gift.

Thats tough. We each have a very sick relative so I rushed the thank yous to them (even buying a different one for his uncle) so I wouldn't have to even think about that.

Did your photog get a picture of him? You might include that with the thank you. His wife might appreciate that.

Ohhhh that's a tough one.

I even googled it and found nothing. Maybe just thanking the wife and including a picture of him will be fine...

I would address it to his wife but thank both of them.

I had this happen to me... I addressed it to the wife only ... and inside thanked her for coming and gfor the gift... offered my codolences and said something like we're happy he was there to share in our day as well... (this was a great uncle of DH's_

ETA: my mom suggested i add a pic in there of him, but i dunno, i personally felt like it was too soon.... putting myself in her shoes, i think i would just cry seeing it bc its so recent ya know?

Thank you ladies for all the suggestions!! Here's what I came up with...

Johnny and I wanted to thank you for the incredibly generous wedding gift! It was much appreciated! We are so sorry for your loss but feel blessed that Mr. Smith was able to share in our day. We hope you and your family have a comforting holiday season. All the best! Love, Amanda & Johnny

Hope that's OK!! Thanks again!!

PS...I really need to post my review soon!!

I had a very similar issue, one of our guest also passed away and she had come with her boyfriend. I ended up sending a card to him, even though I knew the gift had really just been from her, but thanking him for the gift, saying how sorry I was, and how she the gift would be a remembrance of her in our lives. . .

as far as the picture goes - if you have a nice one, I would send it - it might make her cry but trust me - it's not like it's out of mind when other people don't bring it up and it might be something nice for her to have. .
