Hey girls! name change ????

For those of you who changed your last names..how stressful was it for you? Does anyone have a master list?? LOL ughh.. I actually changed my name with my job (medical, payroll, 401k etc) so I got a letter in the mail from my dentist saying my insurance didn't have me on file and that my contracted was canceled! Come to find out duhhh my insurance has my new name and my dentist has my old name! This is going to be HARD work remembering everything I have to change it on! Does anyone have a list???

Going through the same exact thing! I only changd my SS #, and drivers license, and a few credit cards so far. I also just started to apply for substitute teaching jobs and my certification is stil in my maiden name- so confusing and stressful!!!

I also had a very similar doctors experience b/c my new insurance is from my hubbies job and has my new name as well.

I did it as soon as we got back from our honeymoon... this is what I did

Went to DMV first... Cost me $10 and I took a new picture-bring an original copy of marriage cert.

Social security second-you dont need to bring anything and it dosent cost anything. You have to fill out a form and they will mail you a new card.

Mailed in my passport with a form , check for $67 bucks, and my old passport.

Called my job changed all my stuff for work.

Went to my bank and changed my name on all my accounts and ordered new checks.

We to our credit union and changed my name there.

THe last thing left to do is change it with my credit cards(so I can start signing my new name) and cell phone bill....

It wasent too bad... but I had 3 days off work to do it so it was nice.

HTH!!

It sounds annoying-it is-but if you know that its going to take you time to change everything carry a copy of your marriage license with you-it helps if you have some things in one name and some in another
