hey jill

i'm curious.. why'd you get kicked out?

i got kicked outta SJB after my soph year because i did some bad things my freshman year and they found out.

by bad things i mean.. i got into a fight (i was defending myself) I got into a BIGGER fight (i was defending myself and she went down the stairs) I got detention once for having my shirt un-tucked on a short day (shorten periods) after a lab.
my grades weren't too good... and i contributed to my math teacher quitting, by throwing tic tacs at him.

but then i went to NB and LOVED it!

Re: hey jill

A very silly reason- nothing even remotely exciting.

TMLA required that Juniors do 'mandatory volunteer service.' The fact that it's mandatory kinda takes away from the volunteer, no? Anyway, I digress. So I decided to be a teacher's assistant for a Sunday school class. I was assigned to the 2nd grade class which just so happened to be a Communion class. Since this class was to receive Communion in April/May, their CCD classes ended early and I only completed 36 out of my 40 required hours. The teacher refused to sign off on my paperwork. The school told me I then had to do 80 hours of volunteer service over my summer vacation to make up for it. I refused- point blank. My parents backed me up and had it out with the principal but she wouldn't budge. She gave me the boot to make an example of me. She also told me confidentially that it was because she thought my friend Megan was a bad influence on me (she was, but that's besides the point) and she thought it would do us both good to separate us.

When I went to St. Francis Prep and told them that story- they LAUGHED!

Re: hey jill

Thanks ladies! It really bothered me at the time. My senior year was hard- I went to one of the biggest Catholic high schools in Queens and knew not a soul, I didn't get to graduate alongside my friends, I didn't get to go to the prom with them. But the absolute worst part was that a lot of my TMLA friends kinda threw me by the wayside- ya know, outta sight, outta mind kinda thing.

It's all in the past though and it woke me up to how the real world is. I think I'm a lot more responsible and organized now because of it.

Ironically, when I went to my Senior Prom at SFP, I saw DH there with his ex-g/f at the time! What are the odds?!

ETA: I also did really well in my senior year since I had no friends to distract me. I graduated with honors and actually loved the classes SFP offered. I only wish I had gone there all four years!
