Has anyone changed the windows in their home??? The estimates I am receiving are off the wall!!!
I am trying not to go through a contractor because they are just going to go to Home Depot. I am looking for a window company.--Plus no guarantee.
Can anyone suggest someone???
Thanks

I can recommend that you not use Sears. Other than that not too sure.

Re: Home Repairs: New Windows
also, home depot contractors are hit or miss...... some do good work, others are
A standard double hung window should cost about $400 after installation..... so count what you need, and there's an estimate for the simple windows. Obviously bay windows are much more $$$... easily over 1k each after installation.... more like 1500....
definitely keep asking around until you find someone who was recommended from a friend / coworker .... also check them out on the BBB before signing a contract.
good luck!

Re: Home Repairs: New Windows
for donegal419... no.... sorry for not being clear... that's the cost of purchasing a simple window (nothing really high end, but not cheap quality) AND having it installed..... An average window's installation is roughly $200 each, and the window cost will be roughly $200-250 but really, this rough guestimate is if your getting 10+ done at once.... contractors don't like coming out for a couple hours work

Re: Home Repairs: New Windows
I used Active Door and Window. They were extremely reasonable (they had lower prices than Windowrama and Home Depot - with installation included) and did an awesome job. The windows are great and the people there were incredibly friendly.
The number is 631-447-2400. I would recommend them to anyone. Good luck!

Re: Home Repairs: New Windows
we purchased Anderson windows w/ the window pane inside the glass- 8 windows- roughly $3K from Windowrama, without installation (DH & his dad will install), but I know the kind we got is a little expensive b/c their insulated well, and they're wood on the inside, white vinyl on the outside.
good luck!! unfortunately windows can be pretty pricey!
