I have a question for you. Did any of you book your honeymoon travel arrangements for the morning after the wedding reception? If so, how did it work out? Was it exhausting and/or hectic?
TIA!

Re: Honeymoon Morning After Wedding
We got married on Saturday night and didn't leave until first thing Tuesday morning.
We were still exhausted on Tuesday
I know some people like to leave right away ... but there was no way we would have been up for it. It was really nice to be able to come home and relax for a couple of days before the stress of traveling.
ETA: The other HUGE benefit in my opinion about waiting a day or two between the wedding & leaving for the honeymoon is that you don't have to think about packing until after you're married!

Re: Honeymoon Morning After Wedding
We got married Friday evening, didn't get to sleep until after 5am!
We flew out bright and early on Sunday morning and I almost wish we had waited til Monday to leave! The day after the wedding, we slept in crazy late and then had some running arounds to do (finish packing, go to the bank, go see our parents/OOT family) etc. I have no idea what we would have done if we were leaving that day!!! As it was, we were exhausted on Sunday!
So I highly recommend you leave at least one day in between your wedding and the day you leave for your HM. Just my experience and opinion.

Re: Honeymoon Morning After Wedding
We left the next day but it was afternoon. We had time to have a nice breakfast with the family and Bridal party and we were still on that 'high' from the wedding & we didn't want to miss one day away from our Honeymoon trip. We slept on the plane and it helped that we flew first class
We took a couple of days bfr the wedding preparing and packing - it was nice to NOT think about still doing more work preparing for yet another thing.. We grabbed our bags when the Limo arrived - stress free I guess it is all up to the couple.

Re: Honeymoon Morning After Wedding
We were married on a Saturday night and had to get up the next morning for our brunch at the Inn at East Wind and we were exhausted. We then visited DH's parents and my parents, opened our gifts with my parents, had dinner then came back to our apartment to pack. It was a lot to do in one day! I would definitely give yourselves a day or two!

Re: Honeymoon Morning After Wedding
We got married on Saturday and didn't leave until Monday. One of my biggest regrets was not giving myself more time after the wedding. I packed like an idiot - forgetting TOOTHPASTE and half the stuff I wanted to bring. Our first day was entirely waste, we went to sleep at 8PM and honestly, I cried the first day because I thought I was going to hate it because I was so cranky.
We both said if we had to do it over again we would have waited another day or even two!

our wedding was on a Friday night & we didn't leave untill sunday morning. It was the best thing we ever did! It gave us time to open our gifts, relax a little...we weren't tired & aggitated. It was nice I also packed a few days BEFORE the wedding...so it was great to not have to worry about that! DH had to pack but he's a guy lol. Anyways, it was great - all we did was relax, pickup our bags and go ...made the whole 'wedding high' and honeymoon all seem a little longer too..

Re: Honeymoon Morning After Wedding
we got married on a sunday and didnt leave til friday( flights to tahiti were on certain days from jfk).. it was perfect.. as everyone else mentioned you will be exhausted the day after and why be cranky and tired on the flight...
take a day or two in between.. like jtgarsik mentioned above.. makes the 'wedding high' last longer

Re: Honeymoon Morning After Wedding
we did this and it was AWESOME! It was definitely hectic but we loved every second of it. we slept 2 hours and got on a 5 hour flight. it was SWEET! we were in another country within 12 hours of the end of our wedding. it seriously made for some of the best memories. every time i think back to it i want to go back

same here ... we left the Watermill at 1:30, and had a 6:30am flight ... we just went from the Watermill to DH's parents house, to our apt, to my parents house to the airport (JFK) We got on the plane, and slept most of the way there. We went to Hawaii .. so we didnt want to 'feel' the 13 hr plane ride. We stopped in Arizona for an hr, and then flew right to Hawaii. I would do it the same exact way - you just go straight to the honeymoon from your wedding .... no errands, no visiting relatives, relaxation time!! LOL

Re: Honeymoon Morning After Wedding
Married on a Saturday, left on Tuesday morning. Those few days in between are some of my FAVORITE wedding memories. We did random things that we never do around our neighborhood... relaxed, ate lunch out, deposited the $$... soooo worth it!

Re: Honeymoon Morning After Wedding
We got marreid on a Friday night & left for the honeymoon on EARLY Monday morning. We would have left on Sunday but it was cheaper to leave on Monday. We were able to open our gifts & go to the bank.
I would have considered leaving on Saturday sometime but we had a big party that night because my mother's 50th Birthday was the day before the wedding. SO we had a BIG celebration the day after the wedding for her @ my parents house. There was no way I was missing that!! We planned everything perfectly & we had a BIG Party weekend & then left for the honeymoon on Monday morning.

Re: Honeymoon Morning After Wedding
We were married on a Saturday afternoon, so we were home by 7pm, but still had to pack, and then had a car service pick us up at 5:30am the next morning. We were both exhausted by the time we got to the hotel, but we took a little nap and were great from there.

Re: Honeymoon Morning After Wedding
we got married at 12 and it ended at 5:30 pm but then everyone came back to our house for an after party, and I don't think anyone left before 1am.. and the limo came and picked us up at 4:30 am... We were exhausted but there was nothing like that so I wouldn't have done it any other way!!!

Re: Honeymoon Morning After Wedding
i always hear people say they are very exhausted the next day and like to wait 1 add'l day before leaving. but hey--whatever works--if you can only get a flight the next day---go for it.
we married on sunday and left on tuesday for our HM--it worked out better becauase we had that day after to run errands, and spend time with OOT guests who we didn't get a chance to before the wedding.

Re: Honeymoon Morning After Wedding
In my opinion it's better to leave at least one day in between the wedding and leaving, esp if you have OOT guests. We stayed at the same hotel as our guests (where our wedding was) and the next day we spent hours and hours saying goodbye to people. It was great because we got to spend time with everyone - you don't get much time to talk to everyone at the actual wedding - but we didn't get back to my parents place to pack our stuff until late that night. I feel like for us it would have been too rushed and we would have missed out on some quality time with friends and family the next day. JMO.
