I have a question for you. Did any of you book your honeymoon travel arrangements for the morning after the wedding reception? If so, how did it work out? Was it exhausting and/or hectic?

We got married on Friday and left for our honeymoon the next day. We had to be at the terminal at 2:00pm so that gave us time to get home from the hotel get our bags and I stopped at my salon for my very newlywed chop!! wearing my 'just married' tshirt!! It was fun!

We got married on a Friday and didn't leave until Sunday.
I'm so glad we did it that way. It was a fun day hanging around with everyone and no where to 'rush off' to. It was also nice because we got to spend some more time with DH's parents since they live in Vegas.

We got married on a Friday Eve and stayed at a hotel overnight. Had a late breakfast in bed then packed up everything which took forever and left to take my mother home. We then left very early Sunday morning at like 4:15 am to head to JFK to leave for St. Lucia. I was so exhausted the day after my wedding and my feet were so swollen, I could hardly even walk. I would allow for a day in between if at all possible. Best of luck to ya

We got married on a Sat afternoon, spent Saturday evening at an after party with the family, then woke up early to have breakfast with our guests at the hotel, then we were driven by my ILs back to our house, where we picked our car up and left for our HM. Luckily, our HM was up in RI and we could sleep on the ferry and only had to drive the ferry and then to RI - told of 3 hours in the car, and we collapsed early at the hotel after dinner.
I would have waited one more day - we were exhausted and I ended up getting sick on the HM with a cold.

i wish we waited a few days to leave for our HM, but we left the next afternoon.

We had to meet the Rabbi the day after the wedding. Also, we had the out of towners, bridal party and closest family over for the day-after lunch. We really needed that day to recuperate. We left after that day on our honeymoon, and will go to the second part of our honeymoon this May!

We got married on a Sat. night and got on a plane 2 hours after our wedding ended... it was actually great to escape and not have to deal with anything until we got back.
We slept on our 6 hour flight - took Ambien.

We got married Sunday, served breakfast Monday morning to our OOT and left for HM Tuesday AM. We plan it that way so we don't rush ourself (and spare some time to open some envelopes )

My DH and I left for our HM the day after our wedding. I made sure we were prepared so we wouldn't be running around that day. We had our bags packed and arranged car service to bring us to the airport. We even had enough time to go to the bank that morning and pass by my in-laws house to say goodbye It's all depends how well you plan it.

We went the next morning...at 7AM. We packed & all way before.
I guess I would have taken a day off..but not at the expense of making the honeymoon 1 day shorter.

we got married on a sat... we didnt leave for our HM until that monday.. it was sooo much better!! we were able to relax on sunday and get complete rest!

same here ... we left the Watermill at 1:30, and had a 6:30am flight ... we just went from the Watermill to DH's parents house, to our apt, to my parents house to the airport (JFK) We got on the plane, and slept most of the way there. We went to Hawaii .. so we didnt want to 'feel' the 13 hr plane ride. We stopped in Arizona for an hr, and then flew right to Hawaii. I would do it the same exact way - you just go straight to the honeymoon from your wedding .... no errands, no visiting relatives, relaxation time!! LOL
Exactly. Same with us. Our wedding ended at midnight and our transfer to the airport picked us up at 2 a.m. We went to the hotel with our guests, showered, had some cocktails and off we went.
It was crazy but not a second of my HM time was wasted. I am glad we did it that way.

We were married on a Saturday afternoon, we stayed up really late at the afterparty and made our 8:30am flight on Sunday morning to Mexico. We were definately tired, but slept on the plane. It worked out fine for us.

We got married on a Saturday at 3pm and the RH was at night. It ended at midnight - we were back at the hotel around 1:30am. Our flight was the next night on Sunday @ 7pm to Venice. It was hectic, but not unbearable. We crashed on the plane knowing we'd be on our way to an amazing HM. HTH!

We got married on Saturday.
Saturday night, we went to the Garden City Hotel (not impressed with the hotel at all).
Sunday we just hung around and finished packing.
We left for our honeymoon on Monday and came back the following Monday. We had the rest of that week off, which was great.....

We got married on a Saturday and left on Monday morning. Even with this, I was still tired and had a massive headache for the whole trip there.

We did Book our HM for the day after the wedding. We had to fly out Monday morning at 7am.
We literallyy got maybe 3 hours sleep. I had made the arrangements for a car to take us to JFK that morning. We were Soo Tired. But we were still on such a High, that it didn't matter. When we go to Punta Cana, that night we both fell asleep at 7pm. If you could it would be Nice to go maybe a day after the wedding just so you can rest for a day.

We had a Sunday afternoon wedding, and we went back to my IL's to open cards for an hour and we stayed in NYC the night before. We left the next day for Newark, and our flight was at 1:30. We were absolutely fine. Personally, it didn't bother me in the least (we also had a 12 hour flight), but the decision is up to you-depends on the person I think.

We left the reception and went to the airport! I loooooooved going directly from one to the other. We did have an afternoon wedding and flew out at 7:30PM, so that helped. It really was great - maybe it was adreniline but we were not tired at all, by midnight, the day of out wedding we were all checked in and relaxing on the couch of our suite, planning what to do the next day By the third day of our HM we were pretty tired, so we laid low in our room for a day.
