delivery room with you when you are having a baby?

There are a lot of discussions of how it affects men and sex life. I have heard different opinions and was wondering what other girls think.....

I think I would want him to be with me, he is a doctor anyway

He will totally be in the room... but I don't think he's going to take it very well, that's why my mom will be in there too!!!!

I would think I would want DH to be in the room. We haven't really ever talked about it though.

haha i agree with you. DH doesnt like blood and all that stuff ill have him standing next to me and he can see the baby when they give him/her to me

Of course I want him there! I wouldn't have it any other way.
I have never heard of the husband NOT being there.....in this day in age.
Maybe in the 1950s, but not now! If you don't want him to, he doesn't need to look on the other side of the curtain.

You'd be surprised, I have heard the stories of men fainting in the delivery room ( why am I not surprised? ), and some of them just WOULD NOT go inside the room. Honey, I will wait for you outside No way!!!!!!!

I mentioned this in another unrelated thread. Yeah, I'd like to have him there, but like some of the pps, don't really want him to see anything from the waist down. I'd also like a doula there to be our medical advocate, since neither DH nor I may be in the clearest state of mind to ask for what we want in a determined fashion. Plus, the doula would be another source of support.

I do not want kids, but if I did i would want him there for support..i was my friend's lamaze coach & was in the delivery room with her..and let me tell you...i didn't want kids before that...but after witnessing that horrendous (yes, it's beautiful that a new baby is here..but oh lord the process is not pretty!) event...there is no way in hell i would want to give birth!! My poor friend's epidural must've gotten messed up because she was screaming in pain...there was lots of blood...i felt so bad for her...thank god her second birth went well...she called me laughing saying i should've been there for that one instead.

definitely in the room, but definitely not down there I work with a lot of guys & they say they have a hard time looking at their wives the same way after that.. but, they do seem to get over it..

the thought of having him not there with my was heartbreaking... and there was a strong possibility he wasnt going to be there-- ( he was in training when i was due, and was released to come home b/c I had to have a C-section last minute)

I think it bothered me more that he would only have one chance to see his first born, and he needed that -- I was ok with him not being there-- b/c you cant help the fact that he is active duty Air Force... but we were blessed to have him get home in time!!
