We are focusing on Brightwaters/Babylon/West Islip. Any thoughts? DH fell in love, and I am happy he's willing to go that far out east.
We live in CT, his family is in CT, and he works in the city. I work in Bethpage (commute from CT everyday), and my family is in Bellport. So, geographically, I am thrilled.
Advice on schools, areas to look at or avoid?
Have any of you done short sales or foreclosures? We are thinking about those, as well.
TIA

Re: House Search Help - south shore Suffolk
We bought a short sale in West Babylon. We love our house, the area, and it was a great deal! If you want any info, just let me know :)

I love Sayville, but am lucky I got him this far out. He was talking Rockville Centre/Long Beach area originally. So, this is a big victory for me, to get him out there. And, he has to commute to the city

West Islip has a great school district. Babylon's is nice too. I student taught in West Babylon, its ok, but I would go to Babylon. Babylon town is a little more pricey though, I think because of the direct trains to the city.
I LOVE Brightwaters but I am not thrilled with Bay Shore schools. I wouldn't really buy a house there.
Islip is good, East Islip is a great district and I love this town... my neighbor's house should go on the market soon.
As for areas in these towns I wish I could show you on a map. If you want more details e-mail me. Born in raised in EI, my best friend was from WI and I had tons of friends in Brightwaters so I am extremely knowledgeable about these areas.

Thanks Michelle. How big is your neighbor's house? I should come visit and we can avoid the real estate agent all together!
