So DH and I made the decision to stay in Dallas a little longer since the job market is not so good right now and we are going to buy a house. For what we pay in rent we could have a mortgage and start building some equity. We are looking at this house this weekend and cannot wait!! I love it from the outside and it has so many ammenities (jet tub! heavenly!!). Just wanted to share the excitement!

buying this or something like it hopefully within the next month or so! I looked at the cost of houses in Merrick where I am from and it makes me sick to my stomach to see what people are selling at the prices they are asking! I could own a ranch with horses in Dallas burbs for the cost of a 4 bedroom cape on LI. This is one of the few things Texas has going for it...cheap housing! Sorry for babling...I'm just excited at the thought of being my own landlord!

That house looks beautiful. We just bought in Merrick and the prices are crazy, but with DH being a city cop we are here for the duration, and paying the LI prices

The list price on that house I posted is around $170,000 I believe. That is a good representation of a mid range place.

OMG - 170,000.00 - I don't think you can buy a portapotty on LI for 170,000. Such a great price on such a beautiful price. I want to move to Texas!!

I know! The houses are great, but here in Texas I can't hop on Loop Parkway and be at the ocean in 10 minutes. I have to hop in my bathtub! And it is hot as heck here in the summers. So there is a good and bad to every situation. But at this point in our lives, the good of low house prices is definately outweighing my inability to hit the beach!

That is great news. The job market on LI is not good. Computer Associates just laid off a bunch of people, again. The gov't better do something very, very soon.
