Anyone else looking at houses? They are so expensive and the taxes can kill you. I am debating between paying 500k and having that apt to rent or paying 350k-400k without an apt. I have no idea where to look either.

Good Luck in your search ! Try not to get discouraged, DH and I looked for months before we found our house. We were almost ready to give up and when we stopped getting our hopes up that the next house would be perfect, we found it. They are out there, one just for you and DH and you'll be thrilled when you find it.

Not seriously yet, though we probably will start next year. They are so expensive though--I don't know how we will do it. We have some money saved, decent incomes, and a co-op, but everything is so expensive, this still does not seem enough if we want to be within a reasonable commute of the city.
We looked at one place last weekend--1.2 million! And it was absolutely nothing special--very narrow, a tiny backyard that was cemented up, marroon carpeting throughout the entire house, we couldn't believe it!
