Are there homes in Nassau county or western suffolk in safe towns with good school districts that have like 3+ beds and 2.5 baths and are livable for under 400k??????? I was playing on realtor.com and really couldnt find any.... im getting really worried and think we will def have to move when it comes time to buy something. I just dont know if DH will move away. But Im finding it hard to believe we will ever be able to afford more than that...at least not anytime soon....
Any advice?

Try Seaford, Massapequa, Wantagh and Bellmore. They have good school districts and are affordable (if you stay north of Sunrise). Also Farmingdale and Bethpage are good. West Islip and Hauppauge are also nice options.
this is where we are looking too. DH and I both grew up in Bellmore/Merrick and are looking to go back there (we live out of state now), orconsider Seaford, or Wantagh. we have seen a bunch of houses in these towns that are less than 400K, that is our budget too, so it's definitely doable. HTH. Also the schools are great and you're right near the train stations, which is amazing.

Ok per a website I found it said Elmont NY is in Nassua county and I found alot of cute houses under 400,000.
Lookie at mls. 2106634
I know you will be able to find what you are looking for. Don't worry.....
thanks! I just get really nervous about buying a home on LI because its sooooo expensive. And I dont want to wait till Im 40 to have kids, but can't imagine raising them in a one bedroom apartment. LOL.
Does Elmont have a good public school district? Is it a safe town? Its also hard for me to look because I dont know where the better school districts are, but figure if we get something, we would want to stay there for a bit. And I always think a town is nice, then DH will say it has a ghetto section so the houses Im looking at could be in the bad areas. And I have no clue! LOL!
not really...
depends on WHERE in Elmont you are. But even so, the area of elmont that falls under Valley Stream school districts ain't so great b/c VS isn't what it used to be.
Elmont does not fall under the Valley Stream school district at all. The Elmont area is it's own school district with elementary schools including Covert Ave. and Clara H. Carlson and the 5 high schools--Sewanhaka, Floral Park, New Hyde Park, Elmont Memorial and Frank H. Carey.
I wouldn't suggest Elmont though because the neighborhood used to be nice, but with its close proximity to Queens it isn't so nice anymore and most of the long time residents moved out.
Also keep in mind the LI taxes, which are astronomical. You can buy a house in Floral Park on the Queens side and pay $2K in taxes as opposed to $8K on the LI side.
Check out Floral Park, Bellerose, Levittown/Wantagh. Plainview also has a great school district and Massapequa.

we're in the same boat. We see houses for $350,000 that look good on line but when we go to look at them they are awful. That is the most we can afford so if we don't find anything in that price range we're out of luck. I'm hoping for some miracle & staying positive & DH says I'm being unrealistic
