How do I stop getting mail thats not mine?

So DH and I moved into our Apt. Jan 1st...and around April we started getting mail with his sis's name on it..weird..we call her up she tells us she doesnt know why she hasnt put our addy with her name on it for anything..ok, fine. Then today I receive something with DH's FATHERS NAME ON IT! ***!!!!! and on top of that we are receiving mail from the last few tenants that use to live here (not as much tho) and I find it weird that his sis knows nothing about it..because the mail we have been receiving has to do with baby stuff...diapers, babies r us etc. and she just had a baby...

My Q:

Is there anything that I can do, anyone I can call to have them removed from my mailing addy?

Thanks ladies, I really appreciate any answers..I am seriously annoyed

the story of my life.....

I just write 'Wrong Address, Return to Sender' on the mail and stick it back in the mailbox and leave the flag up

I understand how annoyed you are because the same thing is happening to me. I keep getting mail for my ex-husband & it's making me insane. I keep writing 'Does Not Live at this Address' but it keeps coming to our home. Was wondering if I contacted the post office is there anything they can do.

Isnt it freaking annoying!!

But will that prevent future mail coming to my addy? Or do I just have to do that each time I get the wrong mail...Is there anyway that I can do something through the post office?

For letters for the former tenants, just write MOVED or NOT AT THIS ADDRESS across the front of the envelope and drop it back in the mail box.

For junk mail, including your in-laws, find the 800 number and call to have the name and address removed from the mailing list. You can also fax the request if there is a fax number.
It is time consuming, but I do it for all the unwanted mail I get, especially catalogues.

Be careful. I saw on one of those news specials that when you start getting strange combinations like that ( a relative's name with your address, your name with someone else's address, your husband's first name with your maiden name, etc. ) that it is often a sign that people are trying to find a combination that 'works' so they can steal your identity.

Keep an eye on your credit!

I went to the post office with a list of names that I was receiving mail for. Then for a year, they filtered the mail for me. Now the year has expired but the amount of mail I get for random people is far, far less than what I had been getting.
