How do you address your in laws?

How do you address your in laws?

I know this has been discussed before but it is really bothering me.

I avoid addressing my MIL b/c I just don't want to.

I can't call her MOM, b/c she isn't my MOM, but it feels so sterile to call her by her first name.

THIS IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE.
What do you do?

I don't know what to call them. It's sort of awkward since they are here for a week helping us with our new house.

I'm not too close with my MIL so I have no problems calling her by her first name!! (Which happens to be the same as mine )

I did call her 'Mom Marie' once!!

We don't talk to DH's mother and I would NEVER call her mom anyway.. I alreay have a Mom who's the best!!!! and DH calls her mom bc she's the closest thing he's got..

I reallt don't talk to his father, but I would call him by his first name anyway..

I call DH's parents Mom and Dad. I also call my parents Mom and Dad.

DH calls my dad Dad and avoids calling my mom anything because they aren't that close.

From day one I've called them by their first names. DH does the same with mine. They're not old fashioned.

I call my FIL and step-MIL by their first names--they aren't formal at all and I had been doing that from the beginning.

MIL though is weird and try to avoid calling her anything...she's strange...

FIL: by his name
MIL: Psycho

J/K....sort of. I tried calling her Mom twice but it doesn't feel right. So I call them by their names.

As soon as I got married, I started calling my MIL 'mom.' It was weird at first but I figured I need to get the uncomfortableness over now or else I'll go through my whole life never calling her anything and thats not fair to her....

My FIL and step MIL I call by their first names...they are a different story.
