I know this has been discussed before but it is really bothering me.
I avoid addressing my MIL b/c I just don't want to.
I can't call her MOM, b/c she isn't my MOM, but it feels so sterile to call her by her first name.
THIS IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. What do you do?

I'm wrestling with this myself. I called them 'Mr. and Mrs. LastName' until MIL told me on the day of the wedding to refer to her by her first name. FIL hasn't made any specific requests yet, but it's likely he will ask me to call them 'Mom and Dad.' I prefer to reserve those names for my own parents. FIL called his own late in-laws 'Mom and Dad' while they were alive, so he may feel slighted if he's not accorded the same. It's confusing.

By her first name.... Her oldest son does too Yea it's THAT kinda family.... She's totally cool though.
Would you feel funny calling them Mr & Mrs.... ? I know a few of my friends call their FIL's by that name, and I'm sure they will still do it after they wed...

i call my mil mom bc she really is like a second mom...we are very close and she has always called me her daughter....my fil im not so close(in laws are divorced) with but i also call him dad just outta respect// and dh calls both my parents mom and dad bc again he is very close with them

DH calls his parents by their first names, so I do also. I think it's weird, but that's what his entire family does. But if he called them Mom and Dad I would too.
