my response depends on who's asking - if it's an acquaintance or coworker, i just say 'its great' or something like that. If its a closer friend I gve them a more in depth answer.

Ditto. I think too many people take it as a personal attack against them or nosiness but honestly I think especially with people who are just casual aqquaintances, its just somethign else to say besides 'Crazy weather we're having huh?' or 'how about them Yankees/Mets?'

They just know you got married so they figure its a good enough question to ask. I never get bothered by it. I just answer the question-uaully takes all of 2 minutes, they make a little exchange and its on to the next topic-like the weather.

I usually say something like it's really good or its the same, since we lived together before getting married.

LOL THATS a good answer! I have never encountered anyone being negative except for DH's oldest friend but he's just a d*ck in general so I ignore him.

In the last week, I've had more people ask DH and I the same question than we have since we got married combined. The question-- 'so, how's married life?'

My answer to them- 'great. love it.' My internal answer- 'pretty much the same as life right before we got marred.'

DH's attempt at a funny-- 'well, I'm still walking kind of funny.' They look at him weird (b/c its a weird thing to say in response). He says 'I've got this thing on my left hand that's weighing me down.' aka, his ring. He tries so hard to be funny but all he gets are crickets or this guy-

So, curious, how do you all answer that question?

Did you marry my DH

my response 'the same'

I'm sure it isn't as interesting as they'd have hoped, but come on.. The question is irritating

i dont mind that question. people are just making small talk and since we are newly married, what else are they going to ask.

i just beam and say ' married life is GREAT!'
I guess that is all people are looking for....

I will answer...same as before except i get to wear a new ring & it'll cost DH now if he wants to leave.... We've lived together for years so...i am just telling the truth

Re: how do you answer this question?

I FREAKIN HATE WHEN PEOPLE ASK ME THIS!

What do people expect me to say? Most of them are married, so they should know nothing really changes.

But the 'When are you gonna have kids?' is sooooooooooo much more annoying!

well

i USED to answer 'Actually it is wonderful, it has totally changed our relationship and we are both the happiest we have ever been'

but then I learned that happiness makes people REALLLLLLY uncomfortable and they feel the need to awkwardly reply 'oh wait a few years, that will end' or 'ah to be young and naive'

so now i just say, its great thanks for asking

I completely understand what you are saying.

One of my friends asked how happy I was percentage wise. (which I think is a very odd question) Anyways, I said upwards of 95% and she then went onto to say the average couple if 80% happy. Umm....okay thanks for sharing

This is a random question that I've been asked many times. And my response is always the same, 'Fantastic!! Are you jealous?' I say this to married and single people who ask. Shuts 'em up pretty quick. Funny thing is...I mean every word of it.

I answered it 'the same as before, nothing different'. They just look at me funny. We lived together for 1 1/2 years before we got married so nothing changed except now we have a piece of paper.
