I just find it so odd to do that. Did anyone have their ears pierced at a young age, or do so with their child?
If so, why??

Re: how do you guys feel
I was finally allowed to get them pierced when I was 16. My sister only decided to get hers done a year ago (she was 25 at the time). I want it to be my daughter's decision as to whether or not she wants them pierced, but I won't allow her to have them done until she's a teenager. I view earrings as more of an adult thing, to be honest.

My mom didn't believe in ear piercing, so I didn't have mine done until I was 17.
I think that if I had a daughter, I would wait until she was at least 5 or old enough to understand about wearing earrings. My sister did that with my niece, waiting until she was a little bit older. Just can't remember if it was 3 or 4.

Mine were pierced as an infant. By the time I was 6 months they'd healed so I knwo they were done pretty young. I grew up in a hispanic family-everyone did it. All the little girls had pierced ears. It was just the thing to do.
Would I personally be able to pierce my baby's ears? NOPE. Someone else could do it but I hate even putting a band-aid on someone. i am not squeamish but as soon as they say OUCH I flinch.
If we can't get someone else to do the baby's ears I would just wait till she was old enough to want to go and we would go together. i am not against pierced ears for young girls, I just do not want to DO the piercing!
Ironically my mom pierced mine when i was an infant YET when i wanted a second hole she had a fit and I had to sneak and do it when I was 18., Then I came back with 3 LMAO. She was not happy.

i was 7 and it hurt so bad! i think the earlier the better, but i guess your ears grow and the holes end up being to high....

I had mine done for my 1st birthday (all together now: 'awwwwwww')
I plan to put my own daughter through the same unnecessary pain one day. It'll teach her at a young age that BEAUTY IS PAIN.
that's cool... I circumcised my son b/c I wanted him to know at an early age WHO'S BOSS

Re: how do you guys feel
I wasn't allowed to get my ears pierced, then when I was 14 my mom got hers redone and I begged my parents to let me get mine. My mom was fine with it, she helped me convince my dad who finally gave in. Then when I turned 18 I went back and got one more hole in my left ear!!
DD is 11, she doesn't have pierced ears and doesn't seem to have any interest in it. I understand the reason for piercing a little girl's ears at a young age, but it's not something that we'll do.

Oh shlt, that was too funny, I am crying over here!!!
I had mine done when I was 6, 7, and 8. The first time I wouldn't let them do the second ear. The second time one of the balls went into my ear and the post fell off, I had to go to a dr to get it out! The the 3rd and final time it toom, I do not remember at what age I put in the 2nd and 3rd holes, but they were all at different times!
I pierced DD's ears at about 6-8 months, it took that long because I didn't want to hurt her, but if you want to do it, do it young, because they are such babies when they get over a year!

i think in hispanic families its VERY common to pierce a baby girl's ears when they are an infant. i believe i was only about 3 or 4 months old. they did it old fashioned.....numbed the earlobe with lots of ice--then a needle, thread, and a cork to catch the needle.
my godmother had her niece's ears pierced the day after she got out of the hopsital!
i probably wouldn't do it THAT way. but when i have a baby i would probably have her ears pierced very young also....just kind of a tradition.

DH wanted it done right away. But I want to keep Ella pure for as long as possible so I am holding off. When she asks me if she can have them pierced, then we'll get it done.

Exactly! Numb the kid's ears and then STAB! Who cares if she cries? She was a collicky baby anyway
I spoke to DH awhile ago and he actually said he'd want her ears pierced so I'd let him work out who did it. I just couldn't be in the room until it was over so I could be the 'good' 'nice' parent.

thats how we do it in my italian family too, i mean that is how we DID it i wont be doing that - some pediatricians do it so i will go that route
at birth most italian girls already have a few pairs of hoop diamond earrings

Re: how do you guys feel
I got my ears pierced at a very young age....I dont rem the pain! lol
My sister and SIL pierced my neice's ears at 6 mths - thats what the dr recommended.
My neice is now 9 mths - and I love her lil diamond studs on her lil tiny ears!!!
ETA: I got mine pierced at a couple of mths - the old fashioned way - my mom 'hired' someone to do it for her! BUT...my sister and SIL made the DR pierce my neice's ears, and I plan to do the same thing when I have a daughter.
