How do you store your jewelry/accessories?

Trying to keep the clutter from taking over my house. I dont have a LOT of jewelery but I have enough that I need someplace to store it and keep it from getting tangled. I dont like the traditional jewelry boxes that I had growing up. How do you store it?

Re: How do you store your jewelry/accessories?

I have a small hidden drawer in my lingerie drawer, where I keep the things I wear often. Everything else is in it's original box in a locked strong box.

Re: How do you store your jewelry/accessories?

one thing I learned from my mom...is do not keep your jewelry all together...especially in a box...

my mom stored the jewelry in odd little places...i know it sounds strange and paranoid...but their house was broken into and the only thing they stole was some gold charms in the jewelry box (they left the costume...they knew exactly what they were looking for), a bracelet lying out on the chest..and some loose cash around the house...

so what I do is keep the jewelry in the box I got it in and I store them around the house...

Re: How do you store your jewelry/accessories?

Thanks Erica and Jenn....no worries, i have no valuable jewelry in my house...im just wondering how you keep your accessories organized without leaving them all over. Stuff like earrings and pins and necklaces, etc...

(Im not much of a jewelry person, i want a few big jewelry items over my lifetime but the rest I like to have costume so Im not worried about losing it.)

Erica, that's excellent advice about not keeping things together. I never thought of that.
I'm going to start scattering things around...

Re: How do you store your jewelry/accessories?

I don't have a lot of jewelry either and the good stuff that I do have is in a separate area but I just bought this from HSN this weekend. It seems too big for what little jewelry I have but I had to have it!

It holds bracelets and necklaces in the long pouches so they don't ever tangle and the end boxes to the whole thing come off if you ever wanted to take them on vaca. It even comes in your favorite color, red, although they don't have a pic of that color on-line. I just had to have it. It was only $20.

With pouches and pocket and pull-open snaps, there's space for all of your precious pieces in this jewelry box. The case features a black croco finish exterior with your choice of a cream, suede interior or red with black interior, removable zippered pouches and pull-open snaps to hang long necklaces and organize all of your pieces. The pockets cushion and protect fine jewelry. There is one center case, one large removable interior tray, two large necklace/bracelet cards, two ring roll trays, two earring cards, two side (travel) units, 8 small necklace/bracelet cards and two zippered pouches. There are hidden, magnetic snaps that allow you to detach side units from the case to take on the road with you. The ring roll trays are designed to be placed anywhere, while the earring cards will hold large clip earrings to tiny studs (large hoops can be placed along the bottom.) The large areas can store watches, omega necklaces or other large pieces. Removable zippered pouches attach by snapping to the top of the side units and provide ample room. The bottom of the main jewelry case has 4 large compartments and can accommodate ring trays as well. Other details include:
Measures approx. 16.5' x 10' x 4.25'
Comes with manufacturer's one-year limited warranty.

Re: How do you store your jewelry/accessories?

I keep mine in several larger and smaller boxes. The big chunky things are kept in larger boxes, and other's are separated by a weird classification system that I have... I have a lot of costume and cheap jewelrey, and all of my expensive stuff is usually on me (LOL).

I hate changing earrings, so I only change them for fancy occasions and only if they match the necklace that I am wearing that day. So I keep matching stuff together.

Re: How do you store your jewelry/accessories?

i keep a few pieces in a crystal box on my dresser. I usually have the same 4 pieces on..the rest are locked away .....

for costume stuff- necklaces, why dont you hang up a cup hook in a convient location and hand the chains from there?
I used to do this in my bdrm when I was a teen. I hung the cup hook on the side of a bookcase

Re: How do you store your jewelry/accessories?

I have a lot of jewerly and this is always an issue for me. I really want a stand up amoire for it, but that is 'putting it in easy reach' if God Forbid someone was to break in so that makes me nervous. I have a dresser top jewerly box that I keep some of my stuff in and then my really good stuff is in a makeup case type box in my closet. It is old and doesn't look very 'I keep nice things in here' so I figure a robber wouldn't even bother with it.
