How does my car know we already spent our tax refund??

I wasn't on yesterday because I didn't go to work. And I didn't go to work because I had no car. What happened to my car, you ask?

Well, driving home from work Wednesday I noticed a horrible fishy smell. At first, I thought it was coming from one of the restaurants or something. But the smell stayed with me so I knew it was definitely in the car or else it was me So I started looking around the car to see what it could be and I noticed on the floor of the passenger side a green puddle was forming. Antifreeze was leaking into the car!! I managed to drive a little bit just to get as close to home as I could but the smell started getting worse. When I looked down again, the floor was starting to smoke. So I started pulling into a parking lot so I could call DH to come meet me. As I'm pulling into the lot, I am totally blinded by smoke inside the entire front of the car!! I was praying no one was in front of me as I attempted to park. Shut the car off, called DH and waited for him to show up.

DH put some water and coolant in and we managed to get it home but it looks like it needs some major work. DH is going to try and do it himself but if he can't I guess I'll be dropping him off at work and taking his car for a while.

DH said to get a new used car with our tax refund but of course I didn't listen & obviously my car heard this idea & didn't like it one bit

i hope the repairs aren't too costly! thank god you didn't get hurt!

OMG that is scary! Glad you are OK, but that antifreeze thing happened to me once, good luck with the repairs!

Oh man, helen, no fair!!!! Tax refunds are supposed to go to FUN THINGS. BOO>
Hey if it helps, I had this once on one of my many lemons... It was a radiator leak and the guy I was dating used some kind of liquid radiator repair stuff, it binds the radiator holes (assuming that's the problem, but you could have a worn out hose or something else!).
It's not a permanent fix but it worked for a few months, and if you're getting a new car anyway that might tide you over without having to replace the raddy.
