How Does This Sound?

How Does This Sound?

When I was in college I wrote a paper on my Great Grandmother's amazing life... she had a traditional Italian courtship (chaperoned) and married young, but he died of pneumonia, leaving her alone with two kids (including my grandma). In between his death and her second marriage she made baby clothes for a local company, was a top saleswoman and then worked on wall street.

My mom is printing up the paper for the wake and wants me to write a prelude. I have been working on it forever... does this sound ok to you?

I had the opportunity to write this as part of a paper for my Women in History class, in which I was comparing women and their roles in society throughout history. While writing this paper I was able to sit down with Grandma D. as she recalled her memories and shared with me her life story. I was truly surprised to learn what a remarkable life my Great Grandmother had and how wonderful of a memory she still had at 95 years of age. It was an amazing opportunity to learn so much about my Great Grandmother and a moment of my life that I will forever treasure. I am so glad I saved a copy of this paper and can now share it with all of her family and friends.

Written with Love,

Her Great Grand-daughter,

Perfect. Maybe put in something about how much joy that she could live to see you married?

I only had it in hard copy, my mom retyped it. I can ask her to e-mail me it.

Last night was the wake. My mom printed 35 copies and they were all gone. My Uncle Al was so touched he came up and hugged me crying. (My grandmother's brother, my great grandmother's oldest son).

She is printing more today.

Michelle, that sound amazing. What a truly special and rare experience you had, to sit down with your great grandma and learn about her life. She sounds like an absolutely remarkable woman. Good luck with the speech. I had to do a reading at my grandma's funeral mass. It was definitely a bit nerve racking, but remember that everyone there is supporting you. Good luck with everything
