Re: How effective is

you mean the infamous 'Pull and Pray' method quite honestly, its worked for me for the last few years!!! i guess im very lucky!
would i enthusiatically recommend it to you...Nope!

However heres the disclaimer:

' Some couples are using the Pull and Pray Method, also known as Withdrawal. This incredibly risky approach means right before the guy reaches ******, he pulls out and ejaculates outside of the woman (and they both pray that she doesn't get pregnant). But ladies and gentlemen, this is NOT an effective form of birth control. This is a pregnancy just waiting to happen.

Why you might ask? Ever heard of pre-ejaculation? It's also known as pre-cum, and it's a liquid that comes out of a man's penis (without his control) before he ejaculates. It can contain sperm so while you don't think your partner is ejaculating inside you, it only takes one little sperm to get you pregnant.

Also, some men have a difficult time controlling their ejaculations -- some don't know when it's coming, and some don't know how to make it stop long enough to pull out of the woman. Having the woman put all her trust in the man withdrawing in time just isn't worth trusting in the Pull and Pray Method -- all in all, it's just a bad idea. . . '

I think you can pull it off (no pun intended ) if you don't do the baby dance during the time you are ovulating. Usually during the week after your period ends is when you ovulate....also keep in mind they can live for a few days inside...

If you don't want to get PG now I would NOT use this method!!! There have been TONS of polls on LIF about how many people got PG using this 'method'

Also, if you try to abstain around ovulation you need to be temping to know exactly when you ovulate. A PP mentioned that you ovulate the weeks after your period which for most peple is incorrect. For a 28 day cycle most people on average ovulate between day 12-14 of their cycle but it can change from month to month.

I would use condoms or another form of birth control is pregnancy is not something you want at the moment.

been doing it for years - no preggers for me avoid the ovulation time. But honestly I don't think it will be easy for me to get preggers so it might be the reason.

Oh come on its the preferred method for any 15 year old! Dont be such a worrywart!

tee hee just kidding. There is a little thing called pre ------ I am sure you know the word. . . all you need is one little ambitious spermie I wouldnt trust it.

ETA i just saw this was mentioned before LOL oops oh well.

Another thing that messes this up is often the 'oh screw it, you can JUST THIS ONCE' I dont know about you ladies but I am not thinking clearly in that moment!

Tilde I thought the preferred method of birth control was the handstand/coca cola method.

You girls are too funny! It's not too effective .... sorry hun!! However, it depends how detrimental it would be if you were to get pregnant RIGHT NOW. If it wouldn't be that big of a deal, it would be a fun game to play.

I wouldn't do this. Especially since right after you come off the pill you have a high chance of having twins!!!!
