When I'm in the office pantry heating up my lunch in the microwave...I see people (mostly women) picking up something small like a yogurt and some granola and when I chat with them they tell me thats their lunch.
Then the microwave beeps and I take out my entire platter of baked ziti and chicken parm.
My friend at work just eats almonds and some oatmeal. i dont get it. i need more food than that!!
what about you guys? do you bring full meals into work for lunch like I do?

Im having leftovers. I threw my grilled salmon and asparagus over baby spinach, red onions and garbanzo beans.
It seemed pretty hearty to me
ETA: Yogurt and a granola bar would never cut it for me, not even for breakfast

I think that eating a lot at lunch is probaly better bc you have all day to work it off.
Today I had a big lunch and I know I will eat less for dinner. Butsometimes I do bring light lunches..and always regret it

Re: How 'hearty' are your lunches?
it depends - usually just cereal and a yogurt - once in awhile i go to the cafeteria and get a salad or a wrap - yesterday i got chinese and it was yummy!! but mostly i try and starve during the day b/c i eat big dinners as well....so no breakfast (well really my lunch is like breakfast) sometimes a snack like an orange if i am starving but usually a cup of tea in the afternoon after lunch will hold me over

I never really eat 'hearty' meals -- they are healthy but I just don't have that big of an appetite to start eating a lot of food for lunch. I usually eat yogurt and organic cereal for breakfast... then, for lunch, i'll have fruit (blackberries and apple slices) and i drink water all day. then, for dinner i'll have a 'meal' -- grilled chicken, fajitas, steak, salad, etc. sometimes i'll have an egg over easy on wheat toast before or after the gym - gives me a boost. i eat mostly organic food. i'm never hungry - never need more than that. i would be stuffed if i ate more than that on a daily basis.

I eat pretty light. Light Greek yogurt or luna bar for breakfast. Whole grain cereal with berries or bananas for lunch. Dinners are sushi or something similar, even though tonight I plan to stuff my face with pasta

Well, people are constantly telling me I eat like a bird and I don't eat enough which is silly because I never harp on them for eating way too much lol. I mean, everyone's views of what to eat are different -- my husband eats more than I do because he outweighs me by about 125 pounds! Then again, there will be days and nights where I'll allow myself more if we are going to a restaurant or something. I also will have snacks at night from time to time like a couple of fig newtons or a few nilla's -- I never deprive myself of anything I want - I'll go INSANE without the food I like - I just do it in moderation. I don't diet- those never work, I don't think about it, I have a regular workout routine - nothing crazy, just consistent. I think some people make it way too hard on themselves and restrict too much... just eat what you want, in moderation, and as long as you eat stuff that is good for you around 70% of the time you should be OK. Tonight I'm going out, so I'm sure I'll be eating stuff that isn't so great -- but I pick at different things and if I want a big burger - I'm going to have it. Last week we went to a chocolate fondue place - it was great and as long as I eat normal the rest of the week I'm OK.
I think it is easier if you allow yourself small, healthy items throughout the day - like 10 little meals rather than sitting down and eating two huge slices of pizza for lunch, KWIM?
But, no matter what, whatever works for the person is their business - I always tell people you have to do what is best for your lifestyle. For some reason though, people always come down on me for how 'little' they think I eat. I'm by no means skin and bones - I could go down a pant size, I'm sure! And there are parts of me that are not completely slender so obviously I'm eating enough lol lol!
But thank you

Re: How 'hearty' are your lunches?
DH and I usually have hearty dinners so I just have coffee for breakfast and some type of power bar (zone perfect, clif, lara) for lunch.

Re: How 'hearty' are your lunches?
I kinda graze all day. So when ppl see what I am eating it may appear that I am not eating a hearty lunch. I will much on dry cereal with coffee at my desk in the morning. Than in two hours eat a banana. Then in another two some yogurt. Then in a half hour some almonds. Then maybe some carrots and hummus. It is awful everyone at work makes fun of me b/c i always have a little baggie in my hand with something in it. If I eat heavy in the afternoon I would sleep on my desk. I wish I could eat a real meal.

i usually eat a roll with butter or a muffin for breakfast... then depending on how hungry i am that day, i will snack throughout the day on gronola bars, pretzals... whatever i have in my desk draw
then for lunch, its usually leftovers from dinner, frozen meals that i buy @ the supermarket or if im buying lunch, a sandwhich, wrap or turkey burger with fries... mmmm! i usually always have a bag of chips or cookies for a snack too
ONCE in a while i'll get mcdonalds or chinese....

Re: How 'hearty' are your lunches?
usually it's leftovers - not as big as dinner but pretty substantial.
today it was a few chicken nuggets and a bowl of easy mac because I babysat my niece though I had a yogurt a little later on.
i tried eating an apple and a few slices of cheddar cheese in the fall and it worked ok.

Re: How 'hearty' are your lunches?
Usually I have special K for breakfast, then I typically have a 2% string cheese at like 10:30, then a sandwich on whole wheat (either PB or just turkey and cheese, I don't like any mayo or mustard or anything) and an apple. and that's it
For dinner DH and I always have a meal with protein, starch and veggie (unless DH makes dinner and 'forgets' to make a veggie...which he sometimes does ) We make dinner at home every night.

Re: How 'hearty' are your lunches?
I am also a dinner calorie saver.
breakfast is a 90 calorie granola bar and lunch is two pieces of whole wheat toast with two tablespoons of reduced fat peanut butter. Then I eat whatever I want for dinner.
I am not going to lie, I am hungry almost all of the time but I am also much fatter than I would like to be so I try to just ignore the hunger and wait for dinner!
