Tradionally, how long do you have to send out the thank you's after the wedding?

I would say whenever your thank yous are ready to go. I don't think there is a wait time.

I haven't done mine either! I'm HOPING to have them out by Thanksgiving.
I think within 6 months is okay (I hope).

Re: How long for TY's?
i dont think it matters...i sent mine out about 5months after the wedding(they were done right away - but they sat on top of my fridge for months while i procrasted paying the money for postage!). ..while my friends got married and sent them out a year later. 'Etiquette' wise they should be done within the year, but It totally doesn't matter - whenever u get 'em done!

According to etiquette you have up to a year to send out your TYs, tho most brides try to get them out before the 6 month mark.
I got mine out on our 5 month mark.

I was just going to say that. We got ours out just before month 2.

Re: How long for TY's?
I plan on sending out TY's that also double as holiday cards. I asked Tom at Thomas Paul if we could but holly berries or something else around our photo to make it look a little more festive. He said that would not be a problem.
I planned on doing holiday cards this year anyway so this seems like a good way to save some time. Also, I can send them right after Thanksgiving, which is our 2 month mark!

Re: How long for TY's?
I just finished the TYs from my shower
I've heard the 1 year rule with wedding TYs - I'm going to try to get them out pretty quickly, I'm just waiting on final proofs fromt he wedding so I can design them.

I disagree that etiquette says you have a year to send out thank yous... I think most people expect to receive them within 6 months.
While 'etiquette' may 'say' a year, the reality is that people get upset if it takes a year to get a thank you note... JMHO. I'd get them out within 6 months, honestly.

Just wanted to make sure, I am ready to get started but haven't gotten my proofs back yet. I will admit I am not a patient person, oh well

Re: How long for TY's?
we're sending most of ours out today! and my mom wants to kill me for how 'rude' I am! we've been married 104 days!
on another note, we just received a thank you from a wedding of Steve's friend who got married 12/06...
personally, i think WHENEVER a thank you comes is fine... but that's just me!

ITA!
I'm glad I wasn't the only 12/6 bride who just sent TYs recently.
We closed on our house 2 days after we got our proofs so things were hectic! I managed to get them ordered and wrote mine out on the train so they went out at the 5 month mark. DH was supposed to do his but was sidetracked with house stuff. They went out at the end of September, with my help.
ETA - I'm glad I waited for the pictures too, everyone who just got them recently has been coming up to me and commenting on how much they like them - even FILs friends!

Re: How long for TY's?
Technically, you have a full year. Personally, I think that's really tacky and thank you's should be sent as promptly as possible. I think anything under 8 weeks is classy and appropriate. We went to a wedding in late August, have still not gotten a TY, and I think its sort of tacky. This is just my opinion though. I sent mine within 4-6 weeks.
