How Long for TYs before I'm considred rude??

We have been married for a month and I have yet to write a thank-you note. We have another wedding this weekend so by the time we get to them it will be at least another week. How long did you guys take to send them out after the wedding???

I think the norm is about 3 months so dont worry- you have time.

I sent mine out 3 1/2 months after. In all honesty, no one is sitting home chattering their teeth waiting to pounce on you (except maybe your mother and mother-in-law). Get them out within 5 months and I think you'll be fine.

I think you are fine. I sent mine out about a month after the wedding. I had to wait to pick my TY pics, and get them back from the photographer.

We got married in August 2002 and finally sent our thank you's in mid November 2002. So, you're not the only ones late. Our proofs were ready for pick-up mid September when we came back from our honeymoon and we took about 2 weeks culling through to decide which photo to use for our TY card. Both mothers wanted to have a say in selecting our TY card but were not paying for it (our thank you's were not included in our photography package). It took about 3 weeks for our thank you's to arrive and a week to write which were sent a week before Thanksgiving 2002 (note our wedding was in August 2002).

Etiquette says you have up to one year to send TY's. I say after a year people won't bother to look forward in getting a TY card and just remember how rude the bride and groom are by not sending/writing TY cards. You can purchase a pack of 10 generic TY cards at Hallmark or American Greetings and order wallet photos from your photographer and put them in.
