How much longer is a mass over just the ceremony?

Fh and I are in disagreement over this one..... I am more religious than he is and I am the one that does not want to do a full mass. The church says it is only 10 minutes longer but there seem to be so many more prayers and readings and gospel sections that we had to choose from as opposed to if we were just doing a ceremony.
Anyone who did the mass have any advice here?

We had just a ceremony...and it was really quick. I think the mass is probably more like 20 minutes longer. Ceremony was about 40 minutes total...

Our mass was about an hour. A ceremony should only be 20-40 minutes depending on how long your officiant speaks or goes through things.

We met the officiant the other day and he talks very very soft and very slow - almost like he is sleeping! FH and I were like 'uh-oh'. Our original priest, who was much younger and louder, left the diocese.

So does it feel like forever when you are up there?

Our ceremony was very short - 15 minutes at most - just the way we wanted it.

I dont think Ive ever been to a full mass that didnt take at least 45 minutes. Most are about an hour. Ive been to some with really verbose priests that last 90 minutes! It seems the warmer it is in the church, the more the priest has to say

Both DH and I agreed that our ceremony felt like it flew by...but we really liked the Deacon who performed it.
