We are going to a wedding in Utah this weekend. They came to our wedding and gave us $100 total. What should we give? The same...$100 back? We were going to do $150-200 but now we are secong guessing....hmmmm. We dont to make them feel bad by giving them more. Thoughts?

Thanks girls - I feel a lil cheap but I think we will end up giving $100.
Also I know their wedding will be beautiful but it wont be as extravagant as event as ours. After all it is a buffet, etc.
Here you just said you feel alittle cheap but make a pompus comment about thier wedding not being as extravagant as yours. Please please please tell me you're kidding me.
I'm sure they are now going to look at you and say- well they had an extravagant wedding and they only gave us $100.
Childish.
Whether it is a barnyard affair or at a castle. Give what you would have given in the first place.
Since you had an extravagant affair, it must mean you have $

On a side note - this couple is doing pretty well financially and they only gave us $100. DH was actually shocked that they didn't give more but I was not shocked. The guy is from MI and the wife-to-be is from UT and to them, $100 is a good gift. It had nothing to do with how much they make, but its just a standard gift. Also I know their wedding will be beautiful but it wont be as extravagant as event as ours. After all it is a buffet, etc.
grrrrr..
Jenna I am sure that you know this couple and meant to say their wedding may not probably be compared to a NY wedding as some times out of state do it very different. Buffet does not always mean 'cheaper' ..etc..and even OOS can have the most beautiful extravagant weddings as well. However -
Getting back to your Q. Just give what you feel comfortable giving or what is in the budget.IMO when you travel that def should be able to be put into consideration for a gift or part of one.
I hope that makes sense w/out putting # 's on it. Everyone's situaiton is very different, so I would most probably not compare .
My whole thing is I don't expect my guest(s) to pay for my 'extravagant' taste so they should just give what they wish. Sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don't
