We are going to a wedding in Utah this weekend. They came to our wedding and gave us $100 total. What should we give? The same...$100 back? We were going to do $150-200 but now we are secong guessing....hmmmm. We dont to make them feel bad by giving them more. Thoughts?

This is the couple where the woman just underwent a medical procedure? You guys are now staying at a hotel? I think if they gave you $100, then to be fair you can give the same. Everyone takes into consideration travel and overnight stays.

Ohh no no - the woman with the medical procedure is someone we were going to stay with (friends of DH).
The couple having the wedding is someone else (friends of DH too).

Either way...I think it would be safe to give $100. I wouldn't want them to feel bad for not giving more at your wedding ya know?

I would give what you would give if you didnt have your wedding first~even if that means more but I know I am in the minority. I dont think giving them what they gave you is wrong either, we just always give a certain amount depending on the couple.

since you're traveling pretty far and staying in a hotel, I don't think you need to give what you normally give... I'd give a little less than normal

I would give what you initially were planning on giving (unless youre in a particular financial state)...but thats just me...i would feel weird about giving a couple $100 as a wedding gift even if they gave me the same for my wedding.

give whatever you were initially planning on giving..and u have to remember..this is Utah here, not NY..outside ny NOBODY gives what us new yorkers give because weddings are just simply not the same! that being said though, give what you wanted to give in the first place, regardless of what they gave u. i know i'm the minority with peg, but go by ur relationship with the couple & what u can afford.

DH's cousin is getting married in virginia next month & they came to our wedding & gave us $100.... we absolutly plan on giving them what they gave to us

Thanks girls - I feel a lil cheap but I think we will end up giving $100.
On a side note - this couple is doing pretty well financially and they only gave us $100. DH was actually shocked that they didnt give more but I was not shocked. The guy is from MI and the wife-to-be is from UT and to them, $100 is a good gift. It had nothing to do with how much they make, but its just a standard gift. Also I know their wedding will be beautiful but it wont be as extravagant as event as ours. After all it is a buffet, etc.

I would give 100 to them. I would only give more if it was a few years later, but it is obviously not!

I voted $150. I usually give what people give me, but I think $100 is not enough from 2 people. Even if their wedding was first, I would still give $150. JMO.
With that said, you have to do what is financially feasible for you.

OMG, you really just said that. Haven't we beaten this topic to death? If you can give more, give more. Jeez, they aren't going to be upset thinking that you are rolling in dough & they arent. Im sure they'll be very grateful
I voted 150+. I give as much as I can. I would give a standard gift. I definitely wouldn't go tit-for-tat
