I don't see my family much and I guess its all new to me. We saw IL's last weekend for my birthday, and we're seeing them on April 5th. MIL asked if we can get together before then....

Probably not as often as I should I go to school two nights a week so DH goes to his moms for dinner (his dad passed away). She never complains that I'm not there so as long as he goes, she's fine with it. I figure I don't want to start going too much in the beginning b/c then she always expect it
DH doesn't have a big family at all. It's him and his mom. One cousin (a few other older ones that he RARELY sees) an Aunt and two Uncles in Florida. THAT'S IT!!!! I couldn't name how many I have b/c it would take me all day . I am VERY close to my whole family and we are always doing things. He gets a little pissy sometimes. He said recently how we always go to MY things. Hello, if he had THINGS I would be more than happy to go. He doesn't complain much about it though and I guess I would complain too. He always says, you're family would have a party if someone went to the bathroom

Once MAYBE twice a year - they live out of state and rarely come up to NY!

My inlaws live overseas so unfortunately we do not get to see them very often. We speak via phone every couple of weeks.

I don’t now if I should be happy they want to see more of us or not - I just feel that they are constantly coming up with excuses to see us. My DH is an only (Jewish) child….might be part of the problem. Plus he doesn’t go out of his way to see them without me. They live about an hour away, which is just on the edge of being far enough to make plans instead of dropping by – thank God. But my family is all busy; we all work and only have weekends to get together, so we usually plan one every other month. We don’t even spend holidays together, because of all the traffic involved in getting from LI to NJ and the opposite.
I would like to be able to keep it to holidays etc with his family, but its becoming very difficult I feel bad when we don’t have time to get together with them, but in all honesty they are sooo excited when we do get together, that it just puts me off seeing more of them. God help me when we have kids….

You mean the 'OUTLAWS'?!?!
If forced once a month, but my MONSTER-IN-LAW she calls daily for my husband when I am not home. Sometimes 2/3 times a day.
Alls I can say is Thank Goodness for Caller ID.
As a matther of fact, she called the other day and left me a message and I haven't called her back. Whoops!

I never see my FIL & MIL. But we do GTG with one of DH's aunt & uncle every other month or so when they are in NY (They spend winters in Florida).
I see my mother once a week or so but DH & I actually sit down to a meal with her once a month or so.

About every 6 weeks for my parents and probably about every 8 weeks I guess for his parents. Everyone is just far too busy and live too far from each other to get together more than that. I talk to my mom almost every day - he talks to his parents about once every 2 weeks. Usually the get togethers are for parties, holidays and the occasional sunday dinners in winter, summer bbqs in summer. Lately it has been more because we've had lots of family weddings, parties etc. We even did a week long vacation with the inlaws to Myrtle Beach last summer...
