How soon did you start using your married name?

got married in early Nov 05 but changed it legally at the end of 12/05. so almost 2 months after I got married.

ETA: If you've already changed it at SS, that is your new legal name. how do you not use it?

it took me just over a month to get it legally changed so all my personal/financial stuff is in my new name...however its been almost 3 months and its still not changed on my e-mail at work (due to no fault of my own) so now when I introduce myself I always go into the story of my name is/was so people know how they can and will be able to reach me and it becomes a big confusing mess...I just want to get everything changed NOW and be done with it!!!

For instance at a meeting this morning I intorduced myself with my old last name...when on the meeting presentation my married name was listed. I still sign using my old name...stuff like that.

I had to start using it A LOT when I started my new job in august! I didn't really use it often when I was home for the summer, but once I started my job I was introduced to everyone by my new name, had it on my email, etc. I'm used to it now!

my advice is that you should get into the habit of using your new name asap. since it's now legally your name, you don't want to mess up when signing a check with your maiden.

as soon as I changed it at SS, I came home and practiced signing my new name on a piece of paper lol. DH took that piece of paper scanned and saved it in his computer he said he wants to show it to our children one day.

Awe..that is so cute.

I understand what you are saying and that's what I don't want to happen....I think I'm just having a hard time letting go of my maiden name...as stupid as that sounds

it took me a while to get used to hearing it, and using it, I made a very conscience effort to use my my married name. But of course I relished in being called Mrs. R from the moment we walked out from under the Chuppah

I still doint have everything switched over
and our daughter has a diff last name all together
so sometimes I have 3 diff last names

I've already changed it officially with ss and DMV but I can't seem to get myself to use it.....

I started using it the next day!! LOL Even before I had received the marriage license.

The day after we got back from our HM I went to SS and changed my name, then I went to the DMV shortly thereafter!! I started changing everything else over and now I'm totally used to it!! I love my new name!!
