We are not happy with our wedding pictures! I made an appointment for next friday to select proofs for the album, but I really want to point out to him that he didn't do a very good job. Some of the pictures I can't even use because, for example, all 3 shots of me walking down the aisle with my parent have something very wrong with them! Some pictures are out of focuse! Was anyone in a similar situation and what did you do/what was the outcome of that conversation? Also, was it the photographer himself who does pictures selections with you? In our case his assistant does, even though he is going to be in the office at the time! Is it normal?

Re: How to confront a photographer!
You need to express how unhappy you are with the quality of the photos themselves. Just tell him the truth calmly and honestly. I didnt have any issues with my photographer though so I didnt have any of these issues. You should be the one who narrows down the selections and then bring them to your photographer to do the album design. I think some assistants do the design with the clients. I guess it depends on the studio.

Who was your photographer? I am really sorry you don't like your photos!!! I liked your guest shots, so perhaps you can use some of them in the albums?
I'm sorry you are not happy...unfortunately your aisle shots are probably just bad timing...but there is no excuse that others should not be in focus...
maybe if you say something...he can pick out ones that might work...you might even ask him if he can take redo shots...which would mean getting dressed up again...or maybe you'd like to do this with another photographer?

Re: How to confront a photographer!
So sorry you were not happy. You should definitely let him know if you think he can resolve the problems or make it up to you in some other way.
If you are just telling him purely to express your disastification, it might be best to say nothing since it will only cause animosity and not result in any positive resolution.
The aisle shots are a common problem I think. I know very few people who get a really good aisle shot IMO. Its only a few seconds and if you happen to have even a few things throw off the photo, there isnt much the photographer can do to fix that. Particularily in churches where the photographer is restricted to standing in one place, etc... But out of focus photos are completely unacceptable. Do you have other issues as well?

Who did you use? I am so sorry you are not happy with your proofs. I would at least express to him how dissatisfied you are maybe they will make up for it in some way. We picked oit our proofs alone and then our photographer helped us decide which to put where in the album and the size to make it

Re: How to confront a photographer!
Oh no! I am so sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your proofs.
I can totally relate! At our wedding reception, I thought our photographer was good...seemed to be getting every shot, was patient with our huge family, etc. etc. etc. Photo came recommended by neighbors who were very happy, I was able to see some of the albums. I thought I really did my research.
I wasn't happy with our proofs though. I'm still working through things with the studio.
My suggestions-
You need to speak with the photographer or the studio. Explain calmly what you are unhappy about. Bring examples of pictures that you are not pleased with.
When you get home, put aside all of the proofs that you hate...there's no reason to keep going through them if each time you see them you get upset.
Start working through the remaining pictures and keep in mind that they are proofs...the finished product will be far superior.
Once I put aside the pictures that I was unhappy with, I started to pay more attention and realize we got some really good shots. I haven't done my album yet but I am working with the studio to substitute some pictures in the package we bought.
Just curious...who was your photographer??
I hope everything works out for you!!

Re: How to confront a photographer!
I'm also not overly happy with my photographer. There were many shots not taken, that should have been. For example, I don't have 1 posed picture with my parents. There was only 1 shot of me with my mom and none with my dad and I. The 1 shot with my mom, had glare in her glasses and they wanted to charge me extra to fix the picture. I had under 200 proofs to choose from. The video they shot is also very under par and less than 1 hour.

Re: How to confront a photographer!
that's too bad - sorry to hear this I agree that some shots are hard to get 100% perfect, but that's why it's important to have a lot of proofs. Many of my aisle shots have the guy looking one way and the girl another, or something is slightly 'off', but there should definitely be more you love then you hate! Since our wedding we've met with the studio twice, and neither time was with our photographer. I think that's standard with the bigger companies. Our place has 4 photogs I think and we met with a studio manager when deciding on the albums. If you're unhappy with your pictures, I think it is important to let him know this. Even if he can't correct the problem, it should be brought to his attention. Maybe there's something else he can throw in for you or take off the price.
Good luck

Re: How to confront a photographer!
Sorry to hear, but was in a pain as you walked down the asile, because I know when I was I wanted to see my husband and not a photographer so the shot of me and my dad isn't that great but that is what my video is for.
I'm so sorry you are unhappy, we used to commack wedding center's Erik and he was awesome, I have one shot where someone blinked out of all 400 proofs and everyone looks perfect in everything. The owner of Proline is a close friend of ours and he was so impressed with the shots we got from Commack!
I bet your photographer can help you, I have seen some of the work proline can do with changing faces and all types of things..remember they are only your prooFS!
