How to start the 'name change' process??

What is the 1st thing I need to do? I've heard so many different things from so many people, but you ladies are the only ones I know I can trust!

I went to the DMV first and then to the SS office after that! I don't know if everyone needs it but I needed my ss card at the DMV (I changed from an out of state license). You'll need your marriage license for all of this! Good Luck!

Thanks sweetie! I cannot wait to to 'offficially' change my name!!

Its such a GREAT feeling!!!

P.S- try and get to the SS office at opening or you will wait FOREVER!!! I went the 1st time waited an hour and left!! I knew I'd be waiting at least another hour. I went back the next day at 9am sharp and it took about 15 minutes!!

Here is a link to a list another bride put together.

I did SS first and then DMV

next was all of my job related stuff (401K, life insurance, medical/dental)

then student loan, credit cards, car insurance

next on the list is our mortgage, I have to look into if we have to do anything special with the deed....

I did DMV first and I also change from an out of state license, I need my SS card but it didnt matter that my name wasnt changed as long as I had my marriage certificate.
