i was just wondering how worried you ladies are about possibly getting the Swine Flu?
i already wash my hands a lot... mainly b/c of my job... so im not really doing anything differently. we havent been to mexico... nor do we know anyone who has been.... and we dont live or work in queens so i'd say aside from washing my hands a lot and being aware of how i'm feeling, im (and DH) not really doing anything else
i was wondering what everyone else is doing/not doing?!

I'm not doing anything really. Just going on about my day like I normally would. I do know that I will NOT be going around my cousin for a while b/c he's stupid and him and his gf just left for Cancun yesterday for 5 days. So i will make sure he comes nowhere near me for a while.
Other than that, not a damn thing.

Not doing anything really either. I'm a little worried - but not really. I think the media is blowing it way out of proportion. Like SARS, west nile, bird flu ... on a scale of one to ten, I'd say my worry level is at a 3.
Unfortunately, I have some other issues - money, health, etc - that are weighing on my mind more than the swine flu.

One thing i'm NOT doing--going to Mexico! Not really doing anything out of the ordinary. I can say that I'm not going to stock up 100000 bottles of water and 1500 loaves of bread

I'm not that worried though I do work at a dr's office and people have been calling up about getting vaccinated and for tamaflu. But I think the media is just hypeing it up so they have something else to talk about

I really think the media is making this into a hysteria. Yes it's serious, but how many people live in NYC? I mean really. I am a little concerned about my family though. St. Francis Prep is right by my parents and the buses that the students use is the bus my sister takes everyday to the subway. What's her risk of getting it? Probably slim, but she is more exposed to someone potentially having it on that bus route.

we're not doing anything differently. DH can sometimes get into panic mode and keeps asking if i'm worried,and i'm not. we were in mexico in january, not going back anytime soon, or in the next few years. we don't know anyone who's been in mexico. i don't think there's a need to worry about it yet.

I'm not that worried. One of my bus buddy's two daughters got sick with the flu, and yes, the older one attends St. Francis Prep. Both had mild cases, there is basically nothing to do except treat the symptoms. Tamiflu doesn't cure the flu, only reduces the longevity of it.
If I get sick, I get sick. I can't worry about something before it happens.

Ehhh I am a little nervous. I have to say it is caused mostly by the media. But the idea of other countries closing off travel and such freaked me out.
I am just being cautious of people whom are sick and around me.

I'm a little nervous too. I also think I have a slight germophobia
I don't know, the fact its being reported in so many countries is kind of scary.
I told DH that the thing that scares me most is if they quarantine the sick - god forbid I got swine flu and they took me away from DH and I couldn't see him, wow I would be so scared. Same thing if he got it and they took him from me. Then God forbid you die from it you'd be all alone in quarantine I think I watch too many horror movies

I was about to make a post on this!
I work, go to school and live in Queens and my DH is a teacher. So yeah risk are high. I am not going crazy about it though, using more antibacterial cream and lysol and washing my hands often. I refuse to let this drive me insane.

I frequently wash my hands to begin with so that's nothing special for me. Just taking my vitamins, getting plenty of sleep, and doing what I can to stay healthy in general. I live in Queens, take public transportation to the city every day - can't worry about something that I can't control.

I'm a little worried. I am a teacher so I come into contact with a lot of teenagers. I also come into contact with a lot of people at my part-time job. So I think if someone requests their makeup done...I'm going to have to lie and say I'm all booked for that day!

I am not TOO worried. I do make sure I wash my hands right when I get home now where before I probably didn't do that every day but that's all.
The thing is that I am healthy BUT I have an Uncle getting chemo for lung cancer, an Aunt getting chemo for breast cancer, elderly parents and young nieces and nephews SO I really want to make sure that I don't bring anything home that could harm them.
I live and work in Queens, but nothing I can do other than take my vitamins and wash my hands which is what I have been doing.

I am sort of worried because I work with children and the parents never keep them home. I don't want anyone to get sicks, so I've sent out notice if they have a fever not to bring them. They load them down with meds and send them all the time, really upsets me.

yes, I am very worried- I am flying out to Orlando for business on Tuesday.
If I were going to be home, I dont think I would be concerned at all- its just the thought of being stuck on a plane for almost three hours with that canned air
