how would you react?

how would you react?

I was watching an old 'House' episode and in it this Newlywed couple who were soooo in love ended up finding out that they're actually related Apparently the guy's father had an affair with the girl's mother and obviously neither one ever told anybody. But the 2 kids were neighbors and fell in love and ran away together (obviously against their parents' wishes).

So what would YOU do if you found out that SOMEHOW you and your dh were actually half brother/sister???

I'll answer my own question. lol. Me & DH were just having a debate about this - thus being the reason I ask Interesting topic of conversation. lol.

Dh was totally grossed out by the episode and made even more sicker by MY story of what if he and I were related too. hehe.

But me on the other hand - - Yesss, it's GROSS!! I'm totally against incest (obviously). But it's not as though you were raised together. I feel like it's totally different than a brother & sister who were raised in the same house where they once shared toys, took baths together, and all of that. KWIM? I mean, if you only met as teenagers or adults, how are you to know? And if you're THAT much in love (as me and my husband are) I just can't imagine all those strong feelings just dying because of some information you found out. I feel like I'd still love him.

Here's what I'd do - - I'd stay with my husband, NEVER TELL ANYBODY (because it's disturbing) and definitely have my tubes tied or dh snipped. Because kids would be horrible and not an option. We'd adopt.

There we go - happily ever after. lol.

(I think I might be the only one out there who would actually stick it out)

Oh I'm sure it's happened. I mean, how many guys out there get a girl pregnant and then abandon her? His kids might not even know who all their 'siblings' are. And with sperm donations, and adoption? It's possible, but probably not common (I would hope).

ewwwwww. If they hadn't known each other and just met, it would be another story. But to have grown up together and not even be skeeved out by the fact that their in-laws are also their Aunts & Uncles?? Gross. I hope they're not planning on having any children. I know they're not siblings, but even just incest with cousins can cause problems, can't it??

back in the day, especially in europe and England it was really common to marry cousins. It doesn't cause problems in children just because you are cousins - this I know for a fact since I have relatives that married each other and had children (who had children, etc.) that are perfectly fine.

well that's a relief since apparently marrying cousins is somewhat 'common'. (ew)
