How would your dh react?

How would your dh react?

Ok, so last night we went to Kohl's at around 9pm. We're driving through the parking lot and passing a Waldbaums. Now, dh, I feel, always goes a little too fast in the parking lot and tends to not give pedestrians the right away unless they're moving quickly. Meaning if someone is hesitant in crossing the road, he won't slow down and wave them across, he just goes past them. Now, thats not a big deal, but always bothers me a bit for some reason. Anyway, last night a guy with a shopping cart is crossing, dh claims he doesn't see him and quickly passes him. The guy yells out 'fu(king A$$hole' as we drive by. Dh slams on the breaks and yells something back and as we're just sitting there I start to yell 'Go, Go, just drive!' Dh drives away to the Koh'ls parking lot and totally starts screaming at me, to stay out of it, and that I should never get in the middle, and who the hell is that guy to call him a name, blah blah blah. My point is, who cares what some stranger says. That guy thought you were driving like an a$$ and he probably was! Plus, who knows what that guy would do if he felt threatened. Now you're gonna risk your families life because someone called you a name? How childish is that, or is it just me? He usually doesn't start with anyone, this has maybe happened once or twice before. Did he have any right to yell at me?

Re: How would your dh react?

Well I yell at DH almost every single time we drive, it does drive him nuts. I posted once before that I rarely get in the car with others, i prefer to do the driving bc i personally just cant be in the car with others driving, i have this horrible fear, its weird but my heart races, and im so scared. I CAN be in the car with dh bc well i can scream at him if i want and tell him to slow down. I would've yelled at DH before the guy would've yelled at him most likely if i was in that situation. I would've also told him, well you are an a**hole, you can't drive fast in a parking lot. DH has yelled many times at ppl while driving, and ill tell him to shut up or calm down. He gets mad at me, he has this whole thing about i should be on his side no matter what but i always tell him that if he's wrong im not gonna agree with him so to get over it.

I think you have every right to get involved, the moment somebody gets in the car with a driver, the driver I feel is responsible for that persons life. So when dh says things about me not yelling at him for going fast, or if he argues with somebody, i say it is my business bc if something happens to me bc of him it will be all his fault. Then i go off with crazy talk saying how would he feel if something happened but only happened to me and he had to live with that his whole life. Plus someone when he argues with someone while driving or someone cuts him off and he gets mad and wants to do something, the other car is always on my side so I yell that if i get him im gonna hit him lol, and how he always manages to just do things when its on my side lol.

If dh yelled at me, i would probably just yell back and not even get into a screaming argument but just say that he's an a**, its his fault and to STFU. I have to say that i always scream at ppl, i also scream if someone is driving fast in a parking lot and if im walking or if they drive past me, if someone does something i scream at strangers. But if youre the person who does something wrong then you have no right, sorry and dont mean this in a bad way but your DH should really stop driving fast in parking lots. So many times i see kids running as they get out of a car or away from their parents, you just never know. Forget what your DH said about you not getting involved, you had every right to do so.

Thank you! I feel the same way when driving with certain people. I tend to get very nervous especially when someone is doing ten other things while driving (cell phone, radio, looking in the mirror).
I told dh that as long as I'm there, then it's my problem too. When you're by yourself, act like an a$$ all you want! Don't put my life in danger cuz you feel that someone shouldn't call you a name. Now, honestly, I didn't really see the guy either, but if dh was going a little slower, then maybe we would have. I just don't like being yelled at for trying to get myself out of a bad situation. I'm not going to just sit there. Oh well, thanks for listening!

Re: How would your dh react?

OMG I cant stand when ppl are doing a million other things while driving, it drives me insane. DH is on his phone or looking for songs to play on the ipod, its like OMG just drive. Once he bought this stupid thing to install in the car radio to hook the ipod too, well instead of doing this while we were still parked dh waits until he is driving and he is trying to hook this thing up. I flipped out and told him to just give it to me and i'll do it. He does this EVERY single time, and i dont get it. He'll hook his phone up to the charger and connect his ipod to the radio, its just always something. Then he asks what do I want him to do if he needs to do this. UHMMMM how about doing this before you drive off, its quite simple. Every time i get in the car before i drive off i do everything then and then drive off. I think guys just don't get it most of the time and they all swear they're great drivers but they're not.

Again, you did nothing wrong so don't even feel bad

I agree that you had every right to get involved. What if the other person has a gun??? You just never know about other ppl and what will tick them off so no offense but what your DH is doing could put you and him at risk...even his driving fast in parking lots is dangerous, you never know who will pull out suddenly without looking (I see it all the time and it drives me nuts...) or just do something dumb. I am actually a little apprehensive when I am in a parking lot because I am always afraid that someone will pull out and hit my car with no warning. At least on roads there are lights and laws (not that ppl follow them lol). I would have done the same thing and yelled at DH for that (and I have yelled at him in the car when he does stupid aggressive road rage things...I dont' care if he gets mad if I do!) so don't feel like you did something wrong...how could you NOT say something.

I completely agree with Denise on this!!! If you're in the car then it certainly IS your business. I've had that happen not with dh, but with my BIL. He's the type who will somewhat follow a person if they give him the finger, and then pull up beside them at a red light to say something. I hate that. If he's alone, then fine. But if I'm in the car, then I have a right to say 'leave them the hell alone!' it could be a psycho in that car and I'm not willing to risk my safety just because some jack@ss gave you the finger.

DH, however, just isn't the type to yell at all unless it's REALLY called for. And screaming at some pedestrian is certainly not ever 'called for'.

I don't think your dh had ANY right to yell at you

I am more likely to yell at someone while driving than my DH he isnt really a hot head, that would be me I think your DH was probably in a frustrated mood...he should not have yelled at you but he was so heated it happened...he owes you and apology for sure

Re: How would your dh react?

Thanks girls, he did somewhat apologize, but probably cuz he felt he had to. He did start making fun of himself about how he reacted and admitted that it was a bit much. Thank you for making me feel like I'm not crazy for getting involved!

And Denise, what is with every guy thinking that they're awesome drivers?? It's like just because they're men they're automatically better drivers than women? I don't think so!

well i tell dh all the time i am a better driver than him lol. He calls defensive driving Denise lol. I admit i say things all the time with his driving and will get technical about switching lanes when the highway part turns and at what degree you wont see the car next to you. He hates that i think im a better driver, but i think he knows its true at least thats what i tell myself hahahaha. He tries to argue about it but our records speak for themselves, ive never had incidents and he has. I think men are reckless and i do hate to say this and this isnt towards all women but i do agree that there are also alot of bad female drivers are unfortunately bc of them men have those opinions.

You totally have a right to say something! This happens all the time with DH, he is a hothead behind the wheel and tends to go overboard. I always have to yell at him and if we're at a light and someone even looks at him the wrong way I have to stop him from opening his door! He is always ready to confront someone! I always yell at him and tell him you never know who is in the other car!! What if they pulled out a gun??? Men are so stupid!

me too. i have serious intense road rage; i get mad when someone cuts DH off and i yell 'blow your f**king HORN that's what it's FOR!!!!' he doesn't get it. I don't know either but I literally see red.

and, this isn't the same b/c i wasn't driving. but friday i'm walking down park ave during lunch. I cross the street and i totally have the right of way. this motherf%^ing traffic cop SUV turns from park and literally almost hits me. I slow down like you do when, well, you think someone might hit you (i slow down, i don't speed up). they stop and i just STARE at them while I keep crossing. then from the drivers side the traffic cop (a woman) goes 'you're WELCOME' all nasty and loud. I kept walking, but what i wanted to do was jump into the drivers seat and rip her hair out. maybe i need anger management classes. but i seriously wanted to kill the bittch. a cop no less, and I have the right of way?? I hate people a LOT.
And DH doesn't understand why i'm angry all the time.

to the OP: i think you were totally right and he shouldn't have yelled at you. road rage or not I always slow down or give people a pass to go esp in a parking lot etc. you had every right to say something to him.
