PS: That monkey lamp in your room is cool!

Stef, I will take pix. I do not know if that lamp comes with our room, that was just a room on the site. Hubby said his room last year could hold 10 people and the bed is huge. I guess that is why he missed me so

I will make sure I request the room with the monkey lamp Just so I can have the pix

Are you going to PALM Beach or West Palm? West Palm is pretty much like any florida city...mostly strip malls and building developments, etc. PALM BEACH is a little seperate island or penisula that is inhabited by the very rich....really 'old school' kind of money. You an tour that area to see all the famous peoples houses and there is some nice upscale shops in the main part of town as well.

Stef There is no Four Seasons in WEST PALM As if you even need to ask that question!

My IL's live right near the Four Seasons and each time we pass it...drool...drool...drool!!!
Shamma, I am sooooo jealous (I admit). However, if I were to go there, that means I'd have to visit my ILs, so I guess I'll pass!

Now I am confused, where am I going

Re: Hubby and I are going to West Palm Beach

You are going to PALM BEACH...trendy, pricey, florida hot spot for the rich and famous.

West Palm Beach is more like a collection of suburbs and strip malls and retirement villages. Not at all trendy, pricey or hot.

Thanks for clarifying. As you can see I did not get the place clarified just when

Boy, I didn't realize that in order for a vacation to be worth taking it had to be to a trendy hot spot.

I'm very happy going to boring old stip mall infested West Palm and staying for free using my parents' time share.

Jenn, you kill me! So, no 'old' money in your family, eh?? Too bad

Re: Hubby and I are going to Palm Beach

I did not say it was not worth taking if it wasnt a hot spot. That is being very unfair. But West Palm Beach is like most other cities in Florida (or in the country for that matter)...malls, housing developments, etc.. I dont think that is an unfair characterization.

Re: Hubby and I are going to Palm Beach

But why is it necessary to say? Why does it matter? Why would Shamma or I or anyone else be more or less excited about our vacations depending on the snob factor of the location?

Jenn, I'll take a vacation with you to anywhere!! You're going in January, right? Enjoy!

Re: Hubby and I are going to Palm Beach

I think the original question was asked for the sole purpose of making a distinction between the two places. And, it really shouldn't matter one bit, IMO. The truth is, the *entire* county is seen as 'exclusive.' Palm Beach itself is just one enclave of that county...and yes, the rest of the area may be neighborhoods and developments similar to those we all live in...but, it is considered very desirable real estate, nonetheless.

ummm West Palm Beach is where BMW Mercedes and Lexus has their car dealerships... It might not be 'trendy' but dont say theres no money there. You make it sound like its a crap hole GEEZZ My mom bought her Benz there just so she could have West Palm Beach Plate Frame

Re: Hubby and I are going to Palm Beach

Much like Long Island and Manhattan are different locations - no one better, just different. One would be considered more 'trendy' and one more residential. Does that mean no one should go to LI or rich people dont live there or thats its crap? Of course not, and that is not what i said.

I was purely describing the difference between Palm Beach and West Palm Beach. And there is a huge difference. Im sorry if you inferred that I meant something else but I did not imply it. I was not making a judgement on the place, but a description. And I believe my description was accurate based on being there several times before.

Everyone should enjoy their vacations no matter where it is. There is no need to defend it since I am not attacking it.
